Hello! I have woke up the past couple of days with bites - see pic. Could they be bed bugs?!! I was at a park on Friday and bites appear on Saturday. Haven't spotted any black specks on the bed.. they are itchy too. I got some in my lower leg too

Looks like mosquito or similar to me. I don't think you get bed bugs from parks, clue is in the name!

Thanks Harold! It's more if that could explain the bugs, I desperately hoping they are not bed bugs!

I spoke to a pest control person about bed bugs and they told me you won’t really be able to spot anything for at least 6 months from the start of the infestation so you are unlikely to see black specks on your bed if you’ve just got bitten.

I've been dealing with bed bugs only this week. I first noticed them a month ago but it was evident they've been around a while because some of them were quite big. They bit me and the marks are about a cm wide and itchy. When you squash one they are full of blood.

I've used a steamer on my mattress, some heavy duty pesticides on my bed frame, furniture and skirting. I've boil washed all my linens. I used a "smoke bomb" to fog the bedroom and kill any that might be in the carpet. Every time I hoovered I took the contents to dispose of outside. It's all hard bloody expensive work and the internet assures me no matter what I do there's a good chance they'll be back.

I used Piriton for the bites, it cleared up quickly.

I hope to move soon so there's no point getting rid of my mattress because I'm going to be renting so I'll refresh my furniture before I go.

You have to be dedicated to the cause or there's no point.

My bed bug population has certainly reduced but I'm still weird about sleeping under my duvet and am currently sleeping on top of it with a blanket over me instead.

Thank you! I am just unsure as to why we have them. Slept in the same bed as my toddler and there are no bites on her. Will check again later tonight to see if we spot anything .
