This is my extraction site following three weeks. I’ve had nothing but issues since having it removed, dry socket and then an infection. I’ve been super dizzy since having it out and it’s not subsiding. This is what it looks like now?

I’m very pleased for you, but I don’t have herpes?

Don't engage it's spam, I've reported it.

To answer your question it doesn't look right to me and feeling dizzy certainly isn't right, can you go back?

topsy22 · 01/09/2024 21:07

It doesn't look right to me. I had a wisdom tooth and molar extracted from the same sort of area a few years ago and from what I remember it gradually filled with a white substance called granulation tissue. Then that kind of disintegrated and it was just pink tissue that healed over the site. I did have stitches though.
That looks like some sort of a clot to me. Have you been back to the dentist?

Zombieof3 · 01/09/2024 21:18

Issue is, I don’t have a dentist. I had the tooth removed by an emergency dentist appointment and I’m not sure they will see this as an ‘emergency’. I’m wondering if it’s some sort of abscess?

They should see you again to check it out if you're having problems. Or go private if you need to.

Not normal
Looks like a lot of granulation tissue and inflammation popping out of the socket. It's not as bad as it sounds it's just trying to heal.
If you've had an infection already did you take antibiotics?
If it's not painful I'd give it some time, I reckon a shard of bone will poke through, hopefully come out then it should resolve. If you had a dry socket that means the bone lining the socket has died off and sometimes this flakes away and comes through. Does it look like a raspberry? (photo not clear)

Ps pls go see a dentist anyway I can see some decay in other teeth in the photos

I hope so. I wish I could go private but I haven’t got the money for that unfortunately

It’s been an absolutely horrendous experience, first with the dry socket and then this. I didn’t have oral antibiotics, they put antibiotics directly into the gum during the dry socket stage but nothing since. The pain isn’t as bad now as before but still very tender.

Pretty much all my teeth need work, they’re in a terrible state, a mixture of neglect from when I was a child and now through drinking fizzy drinks which I’ve now stopped but unfortunately the damage is done. Sadly, there is no NHS dentists taking on anyone at the moment in South Wales and I am barely affording to live, let alone pay private dental care. So I’m having to wait until I’m in agony before I get an emergency appointment and by then it’s too late to save the tooth. I’m 28 and my teeth are sorry mess and I don’t have anyone to blame but myself really.

It just looks liked a smooth red bubble to be honest but it does have a strange taste if my tongue touches it, almost salty

Sorry to hear that!
Going forwards if you can scrape the money for a new patient exam- find out all the facts and what work is needed. Mention your financial situation. I have lots of patients that struggle (understandably) and I really try to help them

In the meantime prevention is everything. Low sugar, floss! Fluoride toothpaste, avoid fizzy drinks which you're already doing then hopefully it will slow down existing decay and prevent new holes from forming. Daily flossing and twice daily thorough toothbrushing is really important as well as diet. Then at least things will stabilise and there's no mad rush to get it all sorted at once

The salty taste is probably pus, it might resolve in a few days as that's your body responding to it. Alternatively phone the practice that extracted it for advice. We don't charge for follow up complications for extractions but ask if there would be a charge to be seen

Thank you, I’ll try that. They did mention that they have dentist plans but apparently it wouldn’t cover the work I require at this stage and they said it would be a waste of money.

im mostly concerned by the dizziness which has gotten a lot worse today, if I lie down it’s like the room is spinning. This has only happened following the tooth pain and then the extraction. I feel like I definitely need oral antibiotics tbh but I could be wrong

Edited as seen you’ve had a response from an actual dentist.
