Meal replacement shakes, lactose free?

Looking for a meal replacement shake. Not something I want for weight loss, more to maintain weight. Currently having issues with most foods causing me stomach pains, possible lactose and gluten intolerance. I am struggling to eat without being in pain so thought I could try some kind of meal replacement or protein shake.

can anyone recommend one that’s lactose free?

Hi @Lovemusic82
I have the Purition vegan shakes, they're not hugely calorific so not going to help you maintain weight but the do meet your requirements on ingredients.
One thing to look out for though is us Stevia, it causes lots of people stomach pain and problems. A lot of meal replacements have Stevia in them.
Good Luck.

Huel is lactose free, I think.

Thank you, yes that’s something to consider. I had surgery 6 months ago and since then I seem to have developed intolerances and allergies (not sure if it’s related to surgery). If I eat it often results in stomach pain, if I don’t eat I’m light headed and tired. Something with high protein will hopefully help for the first half of the day. I am eating small basic meals but struggling with breakfast as most things I like involve gluten and/or milk 😭.

Most if the powder companies, like proteinworks, myprotein etc have lactose free and vegan ranges, and then can mix with your choice of lactose free milk.

Not what you're asking OP, but did you have abdominal surgery? If you did, I would recommend seeing your GP or surgeon (if you can) because the pain could possibly be from adhesions or a slight blockage.

Yes, I had a hysterectomy (laparoscopic), I have an appointment next month at the hospital, I will also try and get a GP appointment later this week. It could be adhesions, I have had issues with my bowels since surgery but it seems to settle for a week or two and then return. Bowels are working ok ish now but just getting a lot of pain and feeling sick.

If you can’t get Fortijuice prescribed (I’d not buy it online in the UK, the providers don’t seem super-reputable…) either Huel or (vegan) Y Food shakes would probably be the way to go.
