What's the longest and worst you've experienced pain after a filling please?
I had a fractured filling replaced yesterday and the pain once the injection wore off has been pretty strong. I haven't slept well and I'm just waiting for ibuprofen to kick in.
I haven't had this before, she was great but she really went for it making sure it's secure.
Looking for reassurance that this can be normal please!

Yes, this can be normal - the nerve is probably a bit irritated, particularly if it was a large filling. Take regular painkillers for a couple of days and it should settle. Is your bite normal when you bring your teeth together? If the new filling feels as though it is in the way of you closing your mouth properly you need to go back - a 'high' filling can cause pain and can also fracture.

I’ve had a couple of fillings like this, can take a few days for nerves and gums to settle down. Plus it’s hard to close your mouth properly until you get used to the new filling, so probably doesn’t help that you can’t close your mouth properly.

Thanks for replying. Since I posted the intense pain has died down quite a bit, I suspect because she really took it to task and it had been broken a while it just took a bit of a beating.
Fingers crossed it's going the right way.
I didn't really sleep last night with pain, I'm hoping tonight is better!
I have stocked up on all helpful medicine!

I also have a sinus problem going on so the pain all became just a bit too much today and I did cry I'll admit.
Thanks for taking the time to respond

I had one that hurt for months after I had it done. Turned out it was too close to the pulp and needed a root canal. It can get infected if it's irritating the pulp too.

I knew something was wrong with it as soon as the anaesthetic wore off. I've had other fillings but nothing that bothered me. I left it for ages to settle and I wish I hadn't.

I will heed your advice and monitor how it goes. I'd rather just have it whipped out!
