I posted the other day about thinking we had either bedbugs, mosquitos or fleas in holiday.

Whatever it is, we have brought them home despite all my precautions. My son got these last night, does anyone know what they are so I cam treat them better? I am going to get pest control round in the morning. I think they are too big for fleas so must be bed bugs.

What else should I be doing? I have washed everything and tumble dried it and everything is outside in quarantine.

Do you have animals? Where did you go to try and how did you try to stop them coming home?

northernballer · 26/08/2024 07:56

No we don't but we moved about 6 weeks ago and they had a dog.

We went to Barcelona, I hoped they were tiger mosquito bites but bagged everything in black bin liners there and left everything in the garage when we got home and am now washing everything on 60 and tumble drying it.

I have searched for bedbug evidence but there are none of the telltale signs on the sheets that I can see.

These were my bites when we had bed bugs. I was only able to find them in the crevices in the corners of the bed, with a wet wipe. Didn't have any other signs. Hopefully this is not what you have

I would add that we had a minor infestation (but major symptoms), and if you have only just brought them home hopefully you can get them under control quickly. They can hide in carpets. So steam mop carpets. Wet dust everything. Use bed bug spray on things you can't wash, or freeze things. They say don't move rooms as they will follow you. If they are in multiple rooms you will just need to keep treating until the symptoms go and for sometime after to make sure. If you have hard floors it's easier as they have nowhere to hide. This ruined my summer a few years ago, so I feel your pain!

Thank you, which bed bug spray did you use?

They do look like tiger mosi bites, are they hard and hot to touch?
you probably have already but antihistamines and antisan bite cream. Hope they heal soon xx

Sorry, I can't remember! Would check reviews. Just remembered something else that helped though. Matress protectors. They like to burrow into any holes in the mattress and then come out at night. It helps trap them and also highlight any that were lurking and can't get back in.

I react exactly like this to tiger mosquitoes, sometimes with the additional "delight" of yellow blisters. Ugh!

violetcuriosity · 26/08/2024 08:33

They look like horse fly bites, have you been spending lots of time outdoors in the evenings?

northernballer · 26/08/2024 08:37

Yes we are outside most evenings.

Would tiger mosquito bites take 5 days to come out? We left Spain on Wedneaday night.
