I hit my head hard at 3 months ago at a theme park. No unconsciousness or vomiting. At the time, I was referred to the hospital and had a once over, advice for a phased return to work and later on a head scan - which raised no problems. The guidance states that the symptoms usually disappear by about 3 weeks - so am starting to worry when they are ever going to disappear. The main issue I have is memory problems, my mind literally goes blank on many occasions. It's affecting my quality of life and my work - am I am due to present at an interview in the next week and really worried that this will impact on my success. Has anyone else had this and when did it go, any reassurance would be gratefully received

Took a good 6 months to stop feeling dizzy when I was doing particular movements is all I can say

Greenbanana7 · 25/08/2024 21:34

@Munchyseeds2 did you do anything that helped? How did you get your mental health strong during the 6 months, I'm starting to feel very fed up that I am not myself and worrying that it won't end Confused

Not really, all you can do is wait for it to pass I think
I'm not in a hurry to bang my head again tho!

I do remember bending down to get something out of a cupboard at Christmas time, went so dizzy thought I was going to fall over.. that was 3 months after hitting my head.
It has got better, give it time.

Sorry this happened to you. If you have the money you can self refer to private neuropsychology for assessments and doctoral level professional advice on coping strategies specific to how PCS is impacting on you. Headway have some reassuring information and free advice.

Hi
My son had post concussion syndrome when he was 15. It lasted ages. There was nothing we could do but wait.
What we did do was let everyone know that it was happening (most people don't seem to be aware of how serious concussion can be). That helped him emotionally cope as people were aware that it really wasn't his fault.
Perhaps you can make the interviewer aware in advance?
