Another imms question.

DS had his first five in one jab at about 10.30 this morning. He is very unhappy as of about the past hour, no temperature as yet, but screaming and crying and generally inconsoloble. Would any of you / have any of you give the calpol to help with any pain rather than just the temperature?

definitely give him the calpol. i do it 4-6 hrs after the jabs whether grumpy/unwell or not

in fact I give ot 30 mins prior to jab so its in system and dulls needle pain

Hi again, sorry trying to take down xmas decorations at the same time as everything else. I've had him in his carrier which seems to have calmed him down a fair bit, he's asleep now. Is he just trying to make me feel guilty for letting the nasty lady jab him? . No, Nailpolish, he hasn't had any jabs or the calpol before, he is only 8 weeks which is why I'm a bit hesitant. Thought I was all prepared too, brought the calpol days ago, spent most of yesterday morning searching for a plunger medication giver type thingy, only to be handed a prescription for some, which, when I collected it the pharmacist gave me a syringe. Grr. I'll give him some if he seems uncomfortable again. Thanks for all your help today

TBH DS never ever noticed injections (he was always calpol'ed first) .. if you had his attention you could jab him and he'd just half wince then carry on

Didn't do it with DD and she cried a bit (about 20 seconds)

just for future ref, its recommended that you give calpol 30-60mins before jab and 4-6 hrs afterwards. hv told me and its on calpol box too. i found it really helps

Sorry. No he didn't. It dosen't say that on my box . I will give him some when he wakes up, still carrying him round in his carrying at the mo, god he's a lump! But a lovely one at that.

my dd2 had her jab a couple of weeks ago, she was grumpy for a few hrs too, but i gave her calpol and she was fine after that, slept really well that night. shes got her next one soon. i hate it so much, the nurse here is a bitch and i would rather do it myself. she uses a massive needle, its all i can do not to say to her 'dont you have a smaller one?'

No Nailpolish, cause I thought I was being ignorant when you said about it, having read the box when I brought it a few days ago, so I went to check! Just says to give 2.5mls, as you said, after imms. No matter, atm he is still in his carrier on me asleep, although he is starting to suck in his sleep rather a lot.....!!
