I had some bloating issues a two weeks ago, it felt like badly trapped wind, nothing seemed helping relieve it, I couldn't go to properly poo or pass wind for good 3 days, I actually worried I had twisted bowels.
It all loosened up after 3 days, went back to normal after 7 days.
I saw a GP about it last week, nothing was found upon examination my stomach.
Anyway I'm away now for couple of weeks and I popped to a private Dr to do some unrelated scan on different part of body and I casually mentioned the bloating and pain I had.
He went for a quick ultrasound of my stomach and said my large bowel is dilated! And contains hydroair.
He said he doesn't know what it is, especially I feel ok now, kept asking me if I ho regularly on toilet or have constipation etc, yes I can get constipation every time and again.
Now I'm goggling what it means and it says acute bowel obstruction?
Could someone please advice as I'm really now stressed about it and totally frozen with worries..
I feel ok now, just windy now and then..

the image is dominated by the extended linear flexure of the columns with a more pronounced hydroeric content.

If you are constipated with hard stool in your rectum and lower colon there will be more gas higher up in the colon with this appearance.
As long as you are now able to pass wind and have no symptoms such as blood in the stool it would be reasonable to work on ressolving constipation by eating fibre, drinking more water and perhaps taking a stool bulking laxative such as movicol / macrogol. Avoid lactulose as will make you more gassy and senna as it is a stimulant and make the tummy ache worse.

If you can’t pass wind or are vomiting with a distended tummy it is a medical emergency as suggests bowel obstruction ( for example related to bands of adhesions from previous surgery) .

Are you the same OP that had a couple of days of absolute constipation (no wind/bowel movements with distension and colicky pain) that several people said you should see a doctor during the episode because it was a text book description of bowel obstruction? Ultrasound isn’t the best medium for imaging bowel (too much gas) so they probably can’t say much more than commenting that there’s a lot of gas in there. Could be constipation, but could be lots of other things. I’d be very careful about flying (long haul iirc from the other thread) again with a distended abdomen because gas expands in lower cabin pressure (I’d also probably see what the insurance company say). I’d probably want to get it investigated properly too.

@Greybeardy hi, yes it's me
. I'm on different device here and I forgot the login.
I was fine and also GP in UK said its definitely not twisted bowel as I wouldn't be able to even walk etc.
All got back to normal, with passing wind and poo, appetite returned when I got here, not issues at all, I literally forgot all that happened!
Only when I went to see the local Dr for non related utrasound scan ( arm) I mentioned the stomach as I was aware they do all sort of scans.
In regards the constipation, I can get constipated just by being in a different house, we were at inlaws 3 weeks ago and I can never go for toilet there is always someone sneaking around the toilet door either mil or fil and I just can't relax there, the same it's home when people are around.@olympicsrock
Usually I don't suffer from constipation as coffee always makes me go most mornings...
But yeah from time to time it does happen..
