the whole difference in the lighter life programme is that the counselling is there to help you reassess your relationship with food

I also found the cost pretty good motivation!

its all about the amount of water you take in and making sure you stick to it, no point if you're going to cheat

works for some, doesn't work for others - same as every other diet

can you do weightwatchers? I had 3 stone plus to lose mid january......have lost 1 1/2 already

you eat less and exercise more and its cheaper

Berrie · 17/04/2008 14:20

I've done weight watchers...I used to save all my points for Stella...not very healthy. I did slimming world too which was easier but it sent my periods funny. I tend to lose about a stone whatever I do and then feel much better and give up and put it back on.

Wannabe, you do address the issues with LL, the weekly counselling is designed for this, and on the 12 week reintroduction you are gradually including real foods and learning what your triggers are, so you are weaning yourself away from packs.

I was 3 1/2 stone overweight, with a BMI of 32, and have a lot shorter journey than some. I was clinically obese, and depsite having tried WW and diet and exercise could not shift it. Half way through I have a BMI of 27 and am now 'overweight' and I have lost 1 stone 10lb. Like I said before you have to want to change the way you deal with food, if you want to stay lighter, you have to be strong enough to maintain and not let yourself slip back into being heavy.

I dont think that 90% is an accurate figure by the way!

oiFoiF · 17/04/2008 14:22

hehe berrie, you sound like me

do you do much exercise?

Berrie · 17/04/2008 14:29

Hee hee not really.

I don't see the need to line someone else's pockets with such an extortionate sum, there is no magic short cut to losing weight and keeping it off, you have to eat fewer calories and do more exercise.

Why not spend some of the money on joining a swanky gym and making sure you go 3 times a week, finding an exercise that you enjoy is the key ime.

hecate · 17/04/2008 16:23

Everyone I know who has done Lighterlife has put all the weight back on and a couple of extra stone (!) as soon as they started to eat normal food again. It is not sustainable at all. And it is harder to lose weight the next time, because your body is waiting for you.... I don't know anyone who has kept the weight off after LL (or slimfast for that matter)

Berrie · 17/04/2008 16:26

Done the swanky gym thing too!

I think I am just meant to be fat.

I did lighterlife lost three stone and over the next year or so put four on.

I would only do it again if I was loosing for a specific occasion in the knowledge it would go all back on again. IN fact I probably wouldn't even do it for that,

Berrie · 17/04/2008 16:42

I'm glad I asked!

THere are people on here who have done lighterlife and kept it off, it may be worth your while searching for their threads.

nkf · 17/04/2008 17:05

My sister in law did it. It's bonkers of course. Think about it - you don't eat for weeks. How can that be good for you? And when you think you could lose weight by eating less and taking more exercise, it's even madder.
