how much bicarb should I use for a deepish bath?

couple of teaspoons into the running water, enough to make it cloudy

bringmesunshine · 16/04/2008 17:53

Have you tried porridge oats in a sock in the bathwater?

Helped a lot when DD and DS had Chicken Pox

nappyaddict · 18/04/2008 08:18

i found oats better than bicarb too.

also zirtek syrup or benadryl syrup is good. piriton didn't work for us.

eurax cream and benadryl cream also fab - much better than calamine.

have heard of some people using sudocrem and aqueous cream.

I wasn't sure how much I was supposed to use, but bunged in a couple of tablespoons or so.

Tried oats as well, but they were messy and didn't work nearly half as well.

nappyaddict · 18/04/2008 08:30

your supposed to put them in a pair of tights or a sock - not loose in the bath.

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/04/2008 08:31

I did.

nappyaddict · 18/04/2008 09:24

oh ... well how did they get out then. did you tie a knot in the end?

CantSleepWontSleep · 18/04/2008 09:35

They didn't get out - I didn't mean messy in that sense. Just the horrible sludgey slimey tight full of oats to wring into the bath and then get rid of afterwards (plus all the ones I spilled trying to get them into the tights in the first place ). I wouldn't have minded so much if I thought it had made a difference to dd's itching, but it didn't really, and bicarb is so much simpler! I like an easy life!

ah i see what you mean now!!
