Bleeding piles - what do you use on yours?

I have piles that are internal and external courtesy of my pregnancies over 20 years ago. I eat a good diet that is fibre rich to make sure I don't get constipated but starting HRT at the end of last year seems to be causing me to slow down in that area.

My piles have started bleeding - this has happened before but I can't for the life of me remember what I did last time. It's quite nasty bleeding, the whole toilet bowl is red (but I know even a small amount of blood can do this). I seem to recall having a steroid/pain relief cream before - not sure if I can get that OTC or whether I need to ask the GP. The GP knows I have piles as I had a colonoscopy a few years ago to rule out any other causes for the bleeding so it's definitely the piles (colonoscopy was all clear and it feels like it's coming from that area!).

Me too. Skin tag removal and polyps. My surgeon said that it’s about a third find it ok, a third feel sore and a third feel intense pain. I’d need to have the polyps removed regardless, but will chat a bit further about the two skin tags. I’m such a coward. What have you heard positive and negative.

@Poppetini the main negatives I've heard are longer than anticipated recovery time / before being able to return to work, unbearable pain while the wound is left open to heal and that not all of the tag was removed so it still didn't look 'normal'

@ZZGirl how long did it take you to recover fully? I'm left with skin tags after pregnancy piles and have been told they'd need to be removed surgically but it's not funded on the NHS so will have to pay to go private. I'm currently trying to weigh up the pros and cons but seeing a lot of negative experiences which is a bit 😬

I went private, I'd say about a month to 6 weeks? I wiped normally one day and was like oh I can do that now! I just sort of realised I was okay

@ZZGirl that's really helpful thank you. Did you have to stay off work the entire recovery period?

No not at all. I'm a teacher, I had one week off then a risk assessment in place for a few weeks where they wouldn't let me bend or sit on anything hard. My first week back I did finish early for my own comfort then back to normal
