My other twin has now developed these wierd spots, it has caused her whole bottom of arm to swell as it is directly on her elbow joint. Tbh I just want to cry, they are causing my dd's so much physical pain andf i feel so useless.
The background is that they have had them on and off for the last two years, we have had eight diagnosis' so far and are currently waiting for a consultnat appointment after i finally got a referal. They are boil like spots that develop either singulalry or as a part of a cluster and like i said are incredibly painful.
There are some pics on my profile but its kind of hard to capture on camera.
I am beginning to get worried as although in itself spots seem fairly harmless, boils can be indicative of auto immune problems, and its hard not to self diagnose ( I am trying not to) Anyway am just ranting really as its driving me nuts

cronic furunculosis is a crop of boils that occur over a period of time, boils can develope continuously or from time to time. can be due to poor immune system or if you or someone in your family are a 'carrier' of the staphylococcus bacteria. these are harmless bacteria that live on your skin or up your nose, but can invade a small cut or graze. antibiotics and/or antibiotic nasal cream can clear the bacteria from a carrier. my uncle had this. hope it helps.

sorry first word should be chronic.

I remember your last thread. Sorry to hear you're getting no further with a diagnosis.

mousemole · 15/04/2008 18:41

How long do they last ? They look like 'classic' boils which comes from a staphylococcus bacterial infection . Have they had antibiotics ? So sorry to hear you are no further down the path with it all, must be v.frustrating.

Quadrophenia · 15/04/2008 21:18

thanks for your responses, one doctor did diagnose staphylococcus and a nasal spray was given, but different diagnosis' since. Would this be reoccuring? would they both get it around the same time?
They have had several courses of antibiotics (fluclox) but it doesn't really appear to make them go any quicker than their general shelf life of around two weeks.

It can definitely re-occur if the infction isn't treated with a strong enough antibiotic. A mild one would dampen down the symptoms for a few weeks. Sounds like you will need a really strong dose of AB's to really knock it on the head. They are probably building resistance to Fluclox now and it is losing efficacy.

mousemole I think you are right, I really, really hope its a staph infection, some of the alternatives are dreadful (really musn't google). Thank you
