Dental disclosing tablets......before or after brushing?

Just had my four monthly appointment with my dental hygienist. There's always something new to do........now it's using disclosing tablets. I have particular issues with cleaning my two wisdom teeth either side of my mouth.

Anyway, she made me chew a tablet at the start of my session and yes there was clear evidence that it was there.
I've now bought some to use twice weekly, but on the box it says "brush teeth & clean interdentally, then chew one tablet".

So my question is, should I follow the advice on the box to brush my teeth first?
Or chew the tablet first & see how my mouth is lining up after the last half week of cleaning?

Any advice gratefully accepted.

Depends upon other factors - doing it first and then brushing/flossing could be to avoid potentially overbrushing in areas where you're already doing fine, compared to brushing, then using the tablet, then brushing even more.

I’d clean my teeth first then disclose missed bits, then clean those off. I’d challenge myself to reduce the missed bit to nothing. Using an electric toothbrush, not snacking, and drinking a glass of water after eating will help.

After. So you know what bits you've missed then can go over them again. It'll only take a couple of sessions to remember to clear every corner of your mouth.

Great advice so far.
Thanks for your posts.
I think it will be a good addition to my already detailed dental routine.

Good point.
Hopefully when I see which areas I'm missing I can refine my technique to avoid overbrushing.

Very good advice, I hope I can use this to get to every nook and cranny.

Yes good advice.
If I'm near a tap I do try to rinse my mouth out after eating.

You should drink water with a meal anyway. You could chew gum after food too.

I got a little dental mirror and was surprised to see what I was missing around the gum line on the inside. Way better now.

If you have hard to clean places, I'd really encourage you to use a water flosser, yes I know it's another thing to do but it's been a game changer for me. Even with awkward teeth I've gone from always gave things show up with disclosing tablets to a clean bill of health. And dentist change my schedule from six monthly to annual. Win:win
