Anyone knows why this happens when I have taken a few days of Migroleve? Anyone else this happens too? Thx x

Does it contain an anti sickness / nausea? That will dehydrate you and cause constipation.

Sending non MN hugs. The hangover and side effects of migraine are shit. Pun unintended but seems to work...

ChristmasLightsLover · 05/08/2024 07:53

@Rzim Just looked it up. It contains codeine and something beginning with b as an anti nausea. I've found both make me constipated... lots of water and maybe try Ella's kitchen prune puree in sachets. That usually gets things moving again. Last thing you want it more headache or migraine.

AnnaMagnani · 05/08/2024 07:55

Migraleve contains codeine which is very constipating.

It's also not recommended for migraine.

See your GP for a triptan, far far better.

Many thx for all your replies x

Seconding @AnnaMagnani - Triptans all the way for me... Hope you feel better soon @Rzim !

ltappleby · 05/08/2024 11:17

I recommend Laxido. I’m it long out of hospital and was totally bunged up from codine. Sorted now

Merro · 05/08/2024 16:28

It's the codeine. When you get codeine on prescription or in hospital they usually give laxatives as well.

Rzim · 05/08/2024 21:06

Many thx for the codeine tip - super useful x

May I ask you migraine sufferers - is it possible to have a loss of function in arms/legs when having a migraine?

My OH has been having symptoms over the past week which could possibly be a migraine (pounding headache, feeling sick (sometimes being sick), feeling dreadful.
But also - lost control of arms when holding/carrying our baby/legs when walking.

  • cold to the touch and clammy even when it's roasting
  • confusion, words not making sense.

Does this sound to you like a migraine?

Nat6999 · 05/08/2024 22:50

Take a dulcoease every time a dose of the migraine medication is taken. I've just had a slipped disc & been taking codeine based medication, I got bunged up & this really worked.

It could be, but no one can diagnose him on an online forum like this. Those symptoms could be any number of very serious things. He needs to see a doctor and quickly. I'd ring 111/go to A&E. It could be TIAs/stroke/brain bleed, etc. I don't want to alarm you or him, but this could be catastrophic if not treated quickly.

What is sometimes described as a thunderclap headache (one that comes on very suddenly with high intensity pain) can indicate bleeding on the brain, but if he hasn't had that it doesn't mean he doesn't have a bleed.

Yes. A hemiplegic migraine can cause temporary paralysis. It is important your OH goes to the GP to discuss their symptoms. They can mimic the signs of a stroke so are taken very seriously.

Pistachiochiochio · 06/08/2024 02:01

Thank you both @NigelHarmansNewWife @StormingNorman

Yes I was worried about TIA/stroke - he had contacted the GP after first occurrence, theyve offered an appointment in 2 weeks. When it happened this evening I called 999. The ambulance checked him over and couldn't find anything wrong so took him with them to a&e. He's still not back and not answering his phone. He was conscious and chatting when he left with the paramedics. I stayed behind with the baby.

StormingNorman · 06/08/2024 07:02

Try not to worry @Pistachiochiochio he’s in the best place. Have you heard anything yet?

Pistachiochiochio · 06/08/2024 07:24

No, no response, I'm going to go in.

Pistachiochiochio · 06/08/2024 09:30

Thank you for the responses - just in case anyone else reads this looking for advice, please don't assume it is a migraine, as PP says. Check FAST for stroke symptoms, and if not Use 111 online.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/08/2024 19:47

How is he @Pistachiochiochio ?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/08/2024 19:47

How is he @Pistachiochiochio ?

He is feeling much better thanks to anti-emetics and steroids to prevent seizure but the scan results are not good at all. Like a horrible dream.

Pistachiochiochio · 06/08/2024 22:12

Thank you for asking. I appreciate it.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 07/08/2024 17:56

Have they said what they think is wrong with him? It must be so worrying.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 07/08/2024 22:02

Apologies @Pistachiochiochio - I have now seen your other threads. What a shock for you all. I hope he gets the treatment he needs and fingers crossed for the prognosis.
