Phimosis / Ballantis

Just wondering if somebody could offer me some advice. I am currently in the Canary Islands with my 3 year old boy.

For the past couple of days he has been saying that his penis hurts. Last night I noticed that it looked extremely red and swollen. Today I tool him to the hospital and the doctor said he has Phimosis which I'm assuming can cause Ballantis?

He's been prescribed steroid cream and antibiotics but I just wondered if anyone could give me some tips and tricks on how to get him to let me put the cream on? The doctor advised to pull his foreskin back gently but he won't let me near it 😫.

Has anyone ever experienced this? He also has discharge coming from his penis and has now started to develop a fever.

Thanks in advance.

Can't he do it himself and offer a bag of chocolate buttons for afterwards ? My kid should've been sponsored by chocolate buttons, they got us through all manner of situations 😂

Just re read and noted he has a fever, go back, he will need antibiotics.

He was prescribed antibiotics and cream. Yesterday was his first full day of taking them.

tub soaks with some salt water. when getting out of the tub and drying off, sneak a slather of cream on (at first don't worry too much about pulling anything back).
once the antibiotics kick in try a little harder to get the ointment on properly.

@CurlsnSunshinetime4tea Thank you so much. He started with a fever on Sunday which is worrying me. Obviously I know this can be normal with infection but it seems like everything I read on Google says a fever isn't common with Balantis so now I'm an overly anxious panicked mum!

Oral antibiotics will help within 24-48 hours. Of course go back to the Dr if worried.
