Weird question- blood types

Odd question- why aren't my children's blood groups listed in their red books or anywhere in their discharge paperwork after they were born? I feel odd not knowing their blood types for emergencies. My GP doesn't have any information. How can I find out?

Because babies' blood groups are not routinely tested. In an emergency where there wasn't time to test then they would be given o negative blood and in other situations they would be cross matched even if their blood type was already known

Umbilical cord blood would only be taken if you are rhesus negative. If not, no need.

if there was an emergency, the hospital would take a group & save to determine blood group.
