On and off mildly painful twinges in lower abdomen, shooting pains in urethra now and again and feeling generally under the weather but can't really pin point much else apart from a bit of nausea.

Not Pregnant.
Had urine dipped at GP today (I was there for something else) no infection and it did look very clear/healthy.
It can't be an STI.
No temperature.
No frequency to pee.
Occasional pain on urination but nothing to shout about.

Help!!! It's driving me mad. I'm debating telling pharmacist tomorrow it is a UTI just to get antibiotics and see if they help.....

Pharmacy would want to do a dip test too.. they won't take your word for it .
I have this all the time.. but mine is a prolapse bladder.. plus a child size bladder ( mine never grew from a 10 year old bladder size).
Hope you get some answers and doesn't last too long.

I'm sure our local Boots give you 3 days of Nitrofuritan just off symptoms alone as they have for 2 of my friends. You could be right though, thank you for your kind words. How did you get diagnosed woth a prolapsed bladder? I hope you don't suffer too much with it.

I just had a quick read, I had a smear test very recently. I think if it was that it would have been picked up then?

This could be pelvic floor dysfunction. I get this, spent ages thinking it was a uti, it wasn't. It could also be endometriosis though so ask gp to check for that. I had an ultrasound to check it all out.

CreatingHavoc · 02/08/2024 20:16

Also, I wouldn't advise antibiotics as you've had clear test results. As someone who has had an antibiotic resistant uti, trust me, you don't want one. Please please don't use antibiotics when you don't need them.

Have you had any other checks for endo?
I had a pelvic ultrasound last October which came back as normal. I wasn’t happy due to my symptoms and family history so asked for a pelvic mri just two months later which came back with deep endometriosis and diffuse adenomyosis. US hardly ever picks up endo.

CreatingHavoc · 02/08/2024 20:27

@CaraVann no, nothing internal. My sister has also since been diagnosed with severe endo so I will push for further investigation.

Definitely push. It’s taken me 20 years of gynae issue to get a diagnosis!

I won't take antibiotics without confirmation I need them from a GP, I'm sure you can imagine how I have been uncomfortable and it was a last ditch thought but I won't do it. I'll see how I am on Monday and attempt to get a GP appointment.

Just wanted to show the other side of the coin, I had a kidney infection that was encapsulated within the kidney and my dip tests were clear every time. It was so frustrating as I did need the antibiotics but the urine tests were always clear. The doc at A&E said to me it can happen that way. But when I had that my pain was further up my abdomen until it changed and properly became kidney pain.

CreatingHavoc · 03/08/2024 08:21

@lollydu sounds painful, glad you got that sorted. Never heard of it happening like that before.

@OoodlesofNoodles i forgot to mention, you could try d-mannose and see if that helps at all if you're worried it could be an underlying/undetected infection. I use the Sweet Cures brand, it's really good. Also, if the gp didn't send your sample to the lab, ask them to do another and send it to be cultured. I misread in your op and thought they'd done it but just read again and you only said dip test 🤦 (it's been a long week!) Dip tests are useful but aren't always the most accurate.

cartwheelsandhandstands · 03/08/2024 08:35

Personally I would try antibiotics - dip tests are not always a reliable way to check for infection.
