Noises in ears

I've just about recovered from a heavy cold (not covid, I tested for that).
Since then I've been getting noises in my hearing. It's not continuous, more like an old steam train going chuff chuff chuff.
I've discussed this with two people who suffer from tinnitus, they say it doesn't sound like that.
Does anyone recognise this? Should I bother the GP with it?

Is it linked to your pulse? If you hold your breath does it slow down or stay the same? Does it change or stop if you move your head or press against your neck?

It's faster than the pulse. Most noticeable if I move my head. Tends to go away if I relax, lay down. If it's relevant, my BP is good, 121/75

Yes if I press my neck it does stop after a few seconds. And starts again after a few seconds when I release it.

Pulsatile tinnitus - it’s hearing the blood flow in your ears, sounds like it’s been provoked by your cold. It should go away in due course

That's extremely helpful, and a little reassuring too. I really don't want this to be permanent.
Many, many thanks for responding to my post.
