He has had really swollen tonsils for a few days now, but apart from a somewhat snotty nose and increased volume of snoring he has no other symptoms of being ill.
He isn't complaining of anything hurting. He is eating, drinking, playing and sleeping pretty much as normal.
Should I worry about the sprouts in his throat??

(he is 2 1/2 )

Hi there. My ds2 is like this - his tonsils have always been HUGE and we've taken him to the GP a couple of times when he's had colds. GP's said more often than not, children grow out of it and the tonsils will reduce in size as they get older. Ds is 4 and they're not reducing yet, but he's never had tonsillitis so we're waiting to see what happens.

Yes, the snoring's outrageous isn't it?!

My son has HUGE tonsils and when he is ill they almost meet in the middle - he snores and gets really smelly breath (yuck). He doesn't have a temperature though and appears fine otherwise. We have been to the GP about it because I had ongoing tonsil problems when I was little and ended up having them out becasue I was missing so much school. The GP said that they wouldn't do anything or give them anything for it when he is like that - and I asked if they needed to come out at some point like mine had would that be possible and he said that it is now condidered an unecessary operation and his case would have to go before a panelto decide if it was needed. Good thing DH has private health cover through work!

oh, I was going to ask this as well. My ds is 6 1/2 and his tonsils nearly meet in the middle. He's abit snotty but fine otherwise?

Though seeing as I've never really looked at them before I don't know whether they are always big or are just big ATM.

I only looked when he was ill once and I thought it might because of his tonsils, but I have been keeping an eye on them since and they go from huge to huger when he has a cold!
