It's nothing serious but please can I have a little bit of sympathy?

Not too much though or I think I might cry!

I've hurt my foot pretty badly (dropped a suitcase on it) but it could be worse we could have been at T5 rather than Gatwick and then I wouldn't have had a suitcase to drop! Have had it xrayed etc but nothing broken, just need to 'rest' it!

I've got a racking cough and every time I cough my head feels like it is going to split in two, I feel like gagging and I pee myself

And my legs are covered in bits, which are itchy as hell.

I feel like a complete and utter wreck.

To make things worse it was DS's party today at diggerland and so I treked around in the pouring rain for hours with a smiley face plastered on and now feel like my foot is going to explode with pain.

Got home for pizza and birthday cake, when one of the small boys said he felt sick and he hurled all over the floor.

All in all, I feel shit, I look shit and although I am usually of the stoic 'keep the home fires burning' ilk, I just want to cry

I prescribe ibuprofen, wine, chocolate and sympathy.

YOu have my sympathy, sounds like you have had a rotten time.

Hope your head, foot and cough are all better real soon. I guess thats all three things that can go wrong, they say things happen in threes don't they?

Ah, nothing like looking like shit, feeling like shit and having to deal with someone else's sick at the same time.

I tend to think that its better to cumulate all these things and get it over and done with at the same time.

Go to bed for 48 hours - no more, no less. It will all seem a lot better by Tuesday evening. You have to permit yourself to be ill sometimes, my wise old doctor told me.

soapbox · 13/04/2008 21:47

I've got a new nanny starting tomorrow, so it could go one of two ways:

  1. She gets here takes one look at me and thinks, blimey she looks rough adn legs it never to be seen again; or
  1. Tells me to go and sit down with my feet up and plys me with cups of tea all day.

Right now I'm in no mood to be laying odds!

Beets - no idea what the bites are - no animals so don't think it is fleas, but they are pretty big bites (mosquito sized).

much sympathy from me too....and lots of wine too if you can manage it with all that hidious sounding coughing.

altho, with a cough, maybe a hot toddy with lots of honey would be in order, chased with lots of chocs and painkillers and then you won't care about the pain!

ranting · 13/04/2008 21:48

You're due a number 2 on the nanny front I think after today.

WingsofanAngel · 13/04/2008 21:48

king kind

3Ddonut · 13/04/2008 21:48

Things can only get, only get, BETTER!!!!!

Take care of you, and have a sniff of wine of two!!!

B1977 · 13/04/2008 21:49

Ouch, sympathy to you, best of luck with the nanny tomorrow!

MotherofUBERboys · 13/04/2008 21:49

oh itchy bites.

i did wonder what the itchy bits were. was rather vague

soapbox · 13/04/2008 21:50

I think actually what I really need is a bulk order of Tena lady

Anchovy - I hope you are right - at the moment feeling well seems light years away.

Actually, having a new nanny starting is perfect. You will be around - ie in bed - so not in her face. You say to her - "I am so-o-o happy to see you - I'm never ill, but am badly so today".

Look, I think your children are older than mine, so its not exactly like they are going to not be able to help the new nanny out. Frankly even the worst nanny in the world can't get up to much that will irreperably damage older children in 2 days while you are in the house as well.

I'd give her and the children a briefing tomorrow and retreat to your bed.

As I like to say to my assistants in the office "think of this as a fantastic learning experience in which I am giving you a rare opportunity to impress me and develop your skills".
