Colonoscopy food prep - DH

DH has a colonoscopy on the nhs next week and I feel he hasn’t been given comprehensive enough advice on the diet. He said no letter or email being sent out and he had to call the clinic back because they initially called when he was travelling and had no means to write anything down.
Today is his first day on the diet - he has a 5-day one plus taking senna. Can he have any vegetables? He thinks he can have well-cooked carrot. Tonight he’ll have salmon w no skin potato - no veg at all? He’s looking wrong advice up online which is annoying!

I recently had a colonoscopy, I googled the diet as I found the one I received in the mail with the movi prep was too broad. It's basically low fibre foods. So I had Frosties for breakfast, boiled chicken, mash potato, tinned vegetables (as they are soft). Tinned tomato soup.
Can't have anything with skin on, so no cherry tomatoes and other veg with skin. Jacket potatoes but don't eat the skin. Tinned vegetables rather than fresh & frozen.
White bread, white pasta, white rice, water crackers, rich tea biscuits, plain madiera cake, donuts. You're fine with salmon as well.
No coloured drinks, need to be clear.
All a big faff but once it's over it feels great to eat normally again.

I did a bowel prep diet a couple of weeks ago for 4 days.
One thing I found from googling was that all NHS trusts seem to give different advice on diet and some have different lengths of time.
While my diet list specified no fruit or veg (or any fibre) I noticed that others allowed some.

I had a telephone consult with a nurse beforehand and was able to ask her a few questions. I stuck rigidly to what I was told as I didn't want to have to repeat it. It was grim as I struggle with constipation and eat a very high fibre diet with enough fruit and veg to give a normal person diarrhoea.
I bought rice crispies for breakfast, white bread, potatoes, plain meat. It was dull and I had to take senna. Nothing red, no fruit or veg.
The bowel prep itself was awful but I will say that on the colonoscopy report you are given they "rate" the quality of bowel prep and mine was marked good so I guess it was worth it.

BTW in case your husband is on blood thinners he should stop taking them 72 hours before so they can remove polyps if necessary. A friend wasn’t told this recently and has to go through all this again.

I have had a good few colonoscopies (with yet another coming up). I am always told to eat low fibre foods and that in essence all root vegetables count as low fibre, while all things that grow above the ground should be thought of as high fibre.

I also get told to eat no red foods and obviously no fruit (grows above the ground).

It's always got me through.

Thanks all! Still a variety of answers here. I googled the Trust’s guidelines and they’re also very brief.
They’ve said he can have some peeled or tinned pears.
He’s bought white everything 😆 I always buy unrefined so he had to!

I found it really difficult tbh and so bland, I didn't realise but I eat lots of high fibre foods, so it almost felt bad buying food that isn't really too beneficial. I never eat white bread etc.
