Lump in breast

The title says it all really, finished breastfeeding last week, breasts are now diminishing in size and I noticed last night on the inside part of my breast, a lump. Is this normal when you have stopped breastfeeding or would it be better to go get it checked out with GP?

I think you definitely need to go and see your GP rather than just assume it is to do with breastfeeding.

I found a lump when my ds was about 11 months old and got it checked out - it turned out to be benign. The vast majority of breast lumps are benign but I think you need to get it checked to be sure.

I had a lump and it turned out to be a blocked duct which I had to massage until it went. This may be the case with you if you've just stopped BFing. It can turn into mastitis, but that tends to be on the upper outside of your breast. Have you stopped Bfing gradually or was it quick? That can make a difference too.

I recommend a visit to your GP if massaging doesn't help to be certain. It's probably fine, but you need to put your mind at rest.

Thanks everyone for replying. I am sure it is a blocked duct as well but you are right, best to get it checked. My MIL recently found a lump, went to the GP the next day and discovered she had breast cancer. Only because she acted so fast has she had successful treatment. Thanks again.
