Neck pain.. migraine linked?

I suffer from migraines maybe 5-6 times a year. A week ago I had my worst migraine to date and during the migraine I woke up with the sorest neck pain I’ve ever experienced. I spoke with the doctor the following day as I was worried about something more sinister and they are assuming I had slept in an odd position which has caused this.

I’m still finding my neck pretty sore and it’s been a week. Just wondering if anyone else has had lingering neck pain brought on by migraine or sleeping oddly?

My migraines always start with crippling neck pain and it feels like it's broken and my head's going to fall off. If the pain gets past my left ear before I manage to take Sumatriptan (game changer for me) I can't function for the next two days.

I was worrying as I’ve never had neck pain alongside a migraine before but from what I’ve read it’s fairly common, just abit worried as to why my pain doesn’t seem to be shifting.

I’ve just been prescribed sumatriptan and never spoken to anyone who’s used it, do you get any side effects?

I have migraine and neck pain. Sometimes they muddle up together and affect each other but they are two different things.

Apparently neck pain is very common if you work with screens as they are never the right height.

A desk assessment, some neck exercises and a thinner pillow worked wonders.

You might find acupuncture helpful?

I've suffered from migraines for years and found I didn't like the side effects from sumatriptan but use another triptan type medication now.

I get a muscle spasm in my neck which causes migraines. It really hurts - heat helps, as well as ibuprofen.

my migraines are always worst in my neck. The muscles go into spasm.

Also worth looking into cervicogenic headaches. They start in the neck and come up over the ears.

I used to get headaches several times a week and migraines 1-2 times a month and they always felt connected to tension and pain in my neck.
3 years ago I started working with a personal trainer and have built muscle in my neck and shoulders (not visible muscle, just better than I was before) and both the headaches and migraines have virtually disappeared.
I suffered for at least 15 years and within 3 months of strength training I noticed a huge difference in my headaches.

Postural tension in my neck causes my migraines, so I always have an ache in my neck warning me of an impending migraine, and then my neck aches for a few days after the attack too. So it's normal in my experience

just wondering if anyone has any tips when you’re in the full head and neck ache and nausea. Day two of Christmas migraine and I just want to stop the neck pain it’s actually worse than head at the moment. Uncomfortable to lie on any pillow. Sumatriptan is great for me but I worry about taking it every day of a several days headache. Or is that OK?
