Hi, I developed this about a month ago and it's driving me mad and really affecting my confidence? Is it something that you can go to the doctors about and if so did it work? It's all around my mouth and chin, some days worse than others and it looks hideous. I know it can be linked to peri menopause and I'm nearly 41 Has anybody had any miracle cures? I've read about needed antibiotics and antibiotics cream and that steroid makes it worse but is it something that you can bother the doctor with? Can't get anytime off until next week so will book doctors then but just wondering if anybody else has experienced it? Thank you Smile

Hi - I did manage to get rid of it but I think I had it because I was taking a nasal spray that contained steroids long term - I stopped taking the spray and the dermatitis gradually cleared up. So that information might be of no use to you, but I think yes it's totally justified to go to the doctor. It made me feel really self-conscious. I hadn't tried antibiotics so that might have worked too. I was also thinking of going to a dermatologist but didn't know if it was possible to self-refer and still hadn't figured that out when I resolved the issue anyway.

Good luck - hope you get it sorted!

Following because I have had it on and off for months with no real success. The only thing that has given me a temporary reprieve is when I've pretended to have bacterial vaginosis and got a course of metronidazole tablets from an online pharmacy. Really it needs a longer course of antibiotics, but my gp isn't interested. It sucks.

Definitely steer clear of anything containing steroids, they make it worse.

The dr can perscribe you with antibiotics. Don't let them fob you off with a steroid cream. Unfortunately a lot of drs aren't aware of pd and automatically prescribe steroid cream which will make it a hundred times worse. In the meantime try to avoid putting anything on your skin to let it dry out and heal. I hope it heals for you soon

I have had this on and off for years. The only thing that works is Lymecycline antibiotics from the Dr. You can also buy them from online pharmacies

My daughter gets this, apparently it is common in teenagers. She has had antifungal
creams from the pharmacist which got rid of it - first time was given daktarin, then it came back around a year later (think she might be allergic to something seasonal) and had clotrimazole. It looked pretty bad, started on her lips and spread to her nose, but the cream was effective in a few days.

I've also had this over the last year, also 41. I bought antibiotic cream (Zindaclin 1%) from an online pharmacy, religiously used it every evening, you only need a bit, and cut my skincare back to basics. I now use Ceravee hydrating cleanser no pefume and la Roche posay Toleriane Dermallago fluid (no alcohol, no fragrance), la roche posay sunscreen. Leave makeup off as much as possible.
it has taken around 10 months but it has now gone.
I always thought it was odd I developed it as I had the most basic of skincare regimes. Apparently it is really common in women and early 40's.

Thank you all, you have been an amazing help!! I bought the antibiotics from an online pharmacy and in about 48 hours it had completed disappeared and then I got excited and tried a gradual fake tan on my face that I've used hundreds of times and it's come back with a vengeance. I will try the cream next. It looks the worst today that it ever has
