I have a complex broken wrist that needs surgery asap. Hospital told me I need to use hibiscrub all over my body in days before and wash bed sheets and clothes daily. Almost impossible for me to do given my cast and pain plus living alone. Do I need to follow instructions to the letter? Will it be good enough if I use the hibiscrub and change bed sheets once?

Seems really impractical advice to me but I obviously do not want to increase the risk of getting an infection.

My son has had multi surgeries and is normally prone to infection. We’ve used hibiscrub each time but never been told to change his sheets. He’s never picked up an infection following surgery.

Good luck.

You can buy on line some disposable bed pads. Use one where your arm lies in bed and use the hibiscrub and you should be fine.

@Anewuser Thank you. I hope that your son is doing well. Hopefully it is enough to use the hibiscrub once or twice beforehand.

@PleaseletitbeSpring thank you, good idea. Would you use this before and after surgery?

Be grateful your trust has good infection control. I'm waiting for similar and my hospital haven't even told me to shower the day before. Luckily I've had ops like this in the past at a specialist hospital so I know to do it anyway. When I questioned this with the surgeon I got told 'It's not our protocol here'

Certainly before and you can ask about afterwards when you are there. My DH is having a new hip and has only been told to shower beforehand.
