Oral and genital herpes HELP

Ive had an awful burning feeling in my vagina and mouth for months which then ran down my legs into my feed. Had internals and bloods tests etc. Everything negative. They wouldnt test me for herpes as i had no sores but from googling it all kept pointing to that. However i have recently developed sores around my mouth they are tiny but very itchy. I also had one very itchy spot near my bum cheek. Neither swabbed. I was just given a 5 day course of anti virals. I am terrified of passing this onto to my family as ita on my face. How do u get doctors to check which HSV i have and how do i get them to give me the daily anti viral. Ive been worh my partner for 16 years and nothing until the last few months. Im distraught and heart broken
I feel broken.

Book a herpes test online. They're not cheap, but will give you peace of mind.

Jeansgirl22 · 19/07/2024 20:40

Would that just be a blood test?

Try and be calm and stop worrying. I am a big worrier, I get oral herpes. I don't think your symptoms sound like herpes or 'coldsores'. They throb so terribly it's so painful and sore and mine personally fill and swell within the day of the fluid but it is so so sore. Your lips from the description don't sound like that and usually I don't think it would be all around your lips unless they had some kind of 'trauma' like lip filler. I can only imagine if they are as sore as they are on your lips on your vagina you probably wouldn't be able to sit down. I don't know where you are in the world, but you can get daily antivirals from superdrug online. 'If' you have it you won't pass it on to your family because I think you would ge really careful and not share drinks, towels or kiss them whilst the sore is there. I'm such a worrier especially when I get them, but I genuinely think you need to try and relax because I don't think you have and if you do have it isn't the end of the world x

Go to a STI / Gum Clinic?

fedup0987 · 19/07/2024 21:13

I have genital herpes and the only way to know would be to have the aores swabbed once they appear, but it sounds like they're not?
Outbreaks are quite awful. Fatigue is the worst for me but I feel sick and achy and joint pain. I get a strange sensation in my legs but wouldn't say it's burning.
However If you do have herpes I wouldn't necessarily look to your partner. I had my first outbreak whilst with my partner, he has never had one.

I have ordered a blood test kit. Doctors saw my lips yesturday and said it looks like herpes. I just dont want to kiss my children or change nappies at fear of passing the virus on.
I didnt know you could order anti viral medication on superdrug. I currently have a 5 day course of aciclovir from the doctors. Do you use antivirals if so which do you recommend?
The itchy spot near my bum was painful for a few days before popping then stung for a few days it was horrid. So my doctors also think that was herpes but again didnt swab it.
I also went to sexual health clinic but as i had no visible sores at the time only the burn and itch they jist tested for the stardard stis which came back negative.

Ive been but as i had no active sores that just did standard tests which were negative for everything but the burn and itch has been ongoing for 2 months that this week i had a itchy painful spot near my bum which i showed gp and the small blister spots around my mouth. They itch so badly. GP didnt swab just gave me antivirals i dont feel like they were very helpful at all.

Mine are usually itchy before and sore during.

If you still have them I'd go to the clinic and get swabbed

Jeansgirl22 · 19/07/2024 21:37

Unfortunately i dont so ive booked for a blood test to see if i have any antibodies for hsv1 or hsv2. I will go straight to clinic if anymore appear. Do you take anything to manage them?

I have had every test possible 3 internals and countless blood tests this is the only thing left it could be and GP said it looks like herpes but didnt swap which is annoying because i just need to know. Im tired constantly and worried sick of passing to my family as my top lip is currently blistered.

I have aciclovir, I find the Dr not that great when I go about them because they just don't seem to be bothered by it, but I do find the sores make me feel so miserable and disgusting and I want to hibernate until they go, which is not possible. But just wash your hands before nappy changes don't share towels or drinks, which it sounds like you wouldn't do anyway, they will be fine honestly. Go onto superdrug dr and fill in the quiz thing, mine came the following day and for the stress of going to the Dr who like you've found aren't that kind of worried about it and don't seem inclined to support, it was just easier and worth it for me. It's a proper Dr prescription and you can send your Dr the letter they send you with it so your actual Dr has a copy. You pay for the medication, but like I say worth it I think.

Just wash your hands before changing nappies as well as after. Alcohol gel will do in a pinch if you’re outdoors all day and not near a proper sink with soap.
Skipping kisses while you have active sores on your face is sensible. Unless your kids are immunocompromised I wouldn’t let this stop you giving them kisses when you have no symptoms. Which will be most of the time once this first attack is over. The risk of passing the virus to your kids when you’re not showing symptoms is very small and in my opinion, not worth depriving you and them of affection over. I get coldsores every so often and I like the little patches you can get. They help with the pain and also make me feel more confident about limiting the contagiousness - the liquid in the blisters is the most contagious thing and the patches help contain it.
I know it feels awful but it’s not the end of the world. A huge proportion of people have been exposed to HSV and a fair number of us get recurring symptoms. Most people fet fewer and milder symptoms over time. And it’s really more of a minor annoyance rather than a danger for most people.

pinkfondu · 19/07/2024 21:46

Wash your hands and do not touch them. You can get cold sore patches. No kissing the kids whikst you have them

fedup0987 · 19/07/2024 21:50

I'm taking aclicovir at the minute because I kept having outbreaks post pregnancy and it really knocks me off my feet with the fatigue mostly but usually I'd just take them when I had an outbreak.
The doctors are in phases. Probably more common than people realise

This has made me feel abit better thank you. My boys are only young and love a cuddle and kisses but i feel like a contagious mess right now and i dont want them catching anything. Ive even worn facemasks around them because they are face touchers. I honestly feel awful for having this.

Thankvpyu so much im definitely going to do this. Do you use any creams at all to help with the pain or itch?

I prefer no creams, a bit of vaseline to keep it moist, and throw it away after!! X
