Can conjuntivitus cause high temp?

Ok, I'm at work, not at home with dd (18mnths) who has conjuctivitus. MIL, has just txt to say she has a temp of 39.2 and what medicine should she give her( feeling like my handover was a waste of time). I did a quick google of conjunctivitus symptoms and it says nothing about high temp. I'm calling on the advice of mumsnet as it is taking all of my power not to go straight home to look after my little angel. I suspect something else is causing the high temp, what do you think?

I've never known it to but I may be wrong. This is quite a high temp so she should probably be seen by an out of hours GP. You can get bacterial conjunctivitis, I don't think it causes a temp though. Give NHS Direct a call, maybe they know.

You can get conjunctivitis as part of a viral infection, which causes a high temp and cold syptoms. Or the conjunctivitis could be a seperate infection.

Most likely your dd has got an illness and the conjunctivitis is a symptom of that.

If the temp doesn't come down, and if your dd doesn't perk up, I would contact your GP.

my little one gets a temperature when anything is wrong..anything from a trodden on toe to conjunctivitis always has had

I've come to realise that even when something minor is wrong his brain seems to send out a signal and pushes his temp up

He is now 3 and I personally just do nurofen, cool baths etc till it goes back down

but at 18 months I would get him checked just to be safe

definitely call NHS direct at least.

Poor you being stuck at work when your baby is ill.

I want to go home so so so so so so much, it wouldn't be so bad if my mum was looking after her ecause she knows exactly what I would do and isn't afraid of asking me to come home if I'm needed. MIL doesn't spend much time with her and feels like she has something to prove. I want to go home.

Have just spoken to MIL, she's down to 38.4 so told her to give her nurofen on top of her calpol.
