Hi, I’ve had this for a while now & have shown 2 doctors who basically brushed me off & told me to keep dry, use talc powder in socks etc etc. I’ve tried vicks before & currently trying tea tree. I’ve heard of antifungal tablets people use from docs but as I’ve been pregnant basically the last two years ( kids 15 mo apart, my newborn is just 8 weeks ) I haven’t been able to use that. Is it the only answer? And does it have side affects? Will attach pic.

Cold laser treatment - much safer than the tablets which are vicious and don't always work.

Watching this with interest. I have tried so many treatments over the years but nothing seems to have any real effect.

Are you breast feeding OP? I wouldn't use tea tree if you are - it's not great apparently.

And the tablets would definitely be out if you're nursing.

I started using Asda’s version of vapour rub about 6 weeks ago and since then all the new nail growth has been healthy. I’m just cutting off the thickened nail as it grows out. It’s not perfect but definitely a big improvement on the fungal nail treatments which did nothing!

Terbinafine is the usual tablet. It often requires 6 months treatment. This is often ‘pulse’ which means a week on, 3 weeks off. Repeat.

Itbis usual to need several blood tests for liver function during treatment as it can impact liver.

It is quite drastic, but in my experience, for stubborn nail fungus, especially that which is on most or all toes(of the right kind - established by lab test on clippings) it is the thing that works.

My gp prescribed a nailvarnish type treatment. I had to use for a year. Religiously. Stopped after eight months thinking it must surely be gone. Nope. Restarted and stayed the course.

Three years later and it's not returned.

The key is not giving up. The whole nail needs to grow out and the new growth needs to be growing in healthy, whether you use pills with risks is or prefer to use varnish is up to the individual depending on their health. Just don't give up. It WILL work but you need to keep at it for a year.

Not breastfeeding anymore but still reluctant to try tablet as like some of what’s mentioned above it doesn’t sit too well with me. It’s so annoying isn’t it? Thankfully it’s just one toe it’s affected since it’s began. Not painful or anything like that, just a pain! I must look up the cold laser treatment?

I was you 15 years ago. Still got it, somethings seem like they are making a difference but it is always temporary. I won’t be using the tablets but I’ve tried everything else except lasers.

Excilor is a medicated nail treatment that is the only thing that worked after years of trying other things. Looks like glue but you just paint it on the nail every day. Get it on Amazon or boots.
