Dry flaky eyelids?

tiredbutstillawake · 13/07/2024 22:03

I have never suffered from this before but for a couple of months I have had sore eyelids going up to my brows.
It can go from red and sore to white and flakey and back.
Anyone have any ideas what could have caused it?
I have been out in the sun a little bit not excessively.
I don't wear make up there but do use soap and flannel.
I'm in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy but not thinking it could be related, (I may be wrong)
Never experienced this before.
I have tried moisturiser when it's flakey but it makes it red and sore again.

I have this and use a bit of cetraben cream on them which seems to help

Could it be Belpharatis? Keeping eyes clean and golden eye ointment helped if it is this.

Oh I’ve just read up to your brows. This is more concentrated on the eye rim.

If the moisturiser you are using has an SPF in it this can irritate eyes.

Possibly Blepharitis as PP said , I had this a couple of years ago. My eyelids and eyes were more sore than dry and flaky but it does cause flaky skin. You can get an eye wash specifically for blepharitis and a warm eye mask (both optase). They helped me along with dry eyes eye drops. I use a computer for work and I also turned my screen brightness down and switched to dark mode for office which definitely helps.

I have blepharitis, apparently because I'm peri menopausal but I had this flaky redness a year ago and I tried using cetraban and it stung like a mofo. In fact everything made it worse. The cure for me was castor oil and I still use it every night and it never returned. I put it in a small rollerball bottle and use it on the lid and round the eye area. Also use it on my lips. Not sure why the flaky red and sore lids happened but it was either a mascara I was using or a lash serum. I stopped both and the soreness wore off but only a bit. The castor oil seemed to heal it. Hope this helps.

GP said more prone if you’ve had cradle cap or eczema. I had it in teens and so did DD so I wonder if hormones are at play but it could be something else entirely.
