Tick bite - still have a mark 2 months later

Had a tick bite on my chest a few months ago and I still have this red raised lump, it doesn’t itch. According to Google the mark should have gone within 24 hours.
i googled Lyme disease but it says that with Lyme disease you get a bullseye shape rash and that isn’t this.

anyone had similar? Don’t want to waste my GPs time if this is normal.

thanks

Did you definitely remove all the tick?

I’m not sure, I only noticed it on me when I went to toilet and looked it then mirror and I quickly swiped it away without thinking

I had a tick bite many years ago which took literally months to go away.

Seeline · 13/07/2024 15:43

I suspect you didn't remove the entire tick.
Lyme's doesn't always have the bullseye rash.
Have you felt unwell or fluey since being bitten?
I would see your GP just in case.

I just wondered what would happen if the head was still attached. I’m sure it’s fine, it doesn’t look particularly inflamed or anything. I’d keep an eye on it though.

No I’ve been fine, and I’m always exhausted so that isn’t anything new 🤣

Insect bites can create little cysts. I've had one before, took years to go! Is it a hard little lump??

KnittedCardi · 13/07/2024 16:05

Also if a tick was attached, you wouldn't have been able to "swipe it away". They are very firmly embedded.

BACA · 13/07/2024 16:27

I have a bump that looks like this on my leg which developed after a tick bite. My doctor said in my case it's a dermatofibroma, common after insect bites apparently. It looks similar so could be one of those.

Oblomov24 · 13/07/2024 16:42

I have similar, thinking that maybe I didn't get the whole head, but haven't felt unwell.

Tulipvase · 13/07/2024 17:38

Not all ticks carry Lyme disease so you won’t automatically get it just from being bitten.

It was definitely a tick

It sounds as though perhaps you swiped the body off but left the head in. That's not uncommon - there are simple tick removal tools designed to avoid this. (Obviously you couldn't have been expected to have one to hand when this happened!)

I don't know how much of an issue it could be if the head was left in. Like others, I'd check with your GP.

Allreadiii · 14/07/2024 11:19

I have send a online consultation to my GP with photos attached so shall see what they do and update back on here for any others in similar positions.

Thanks to everyone who replied

I think it’s fine. I’ve had loads of tick bites and some can be more stubborn than others.

Get a ‘Tick Twister’ if you don’t have one and you’re outdoors a lot. They’re so easy to use and much easier to remove the whole tick than using tweezers or fingernails etc!

What did your doctor say ? X
