Appendicitis laparoscopy whilst pregnant

Hi guys

Can anyone please make me feel better?

I'm 6 months pregnant and had to have an appendix laparoscopy a week ago. I still feel like there's a constant stitch in my stomach. My stitches (3 separate keyholes) are so itchy!

Is this going to get better?

I also have a 1 year old and feeling very helpless not being able to do a lot with her

I had my hysterectomy via laparoscopic surgery. There will be discomfort for a while as you will be swollen and bruised inside.

The stitches pulling at the incisions is quite uncomfortable. I ended up snipping mine out around day 10 and it felt a lot better then. Some of them can take weeks and weeks to dissolve. Sometimes they are dissolved under the skin and a gentle tug with tweezers means they can be pulled out, the incisions will be more comfortable once they are gone.

Quite a thing to go through on top on being pregnant. I wonder what it looked like in there with the baby whilst they were trying to get the appendix out!

I hope things feel better soon Flowers

Ah poor you , that’s a lot to go through . It will get better as soon as it’s all healed and you can oil the skin. Wishing you the best for your third trimester

Thanks both. Maybe I'm not as strong as I imagined myself to be because this surgery has totally humbled me.

Poor you, I do hope you feel better soon!
I have nothing useful to say I'm afraid, just that my Mum had her appendix out when she was 6 months pregnant with me back in 1968, and I still marvel at how clever surgeons were 55 years ago, and still are!
