Long term verrucas

Hi
Daughter has had a cluster of verrucas for at least 8 years
When they first arrived we treated them, no impact so left them...... obviously that didn't work in fact over the last year they've spread

We've recently tried the home freezing method, a few times, still no joy.

Is the next step the gp? Or podiatrist, although would rather not pay!

Thanks all

I think after that long I would be paying if you possibly can, especially if spreading. Our local place charges per session and not per verruca which makes it more doable.

AutumnFroglets · 13/07/2024 09:52

GPs in most areas refuse to treat warts or verrucas now. You can try a chiropodist who will file it down weekly if you can't do that but stubborn verrucas can take a year or more of treatments before going so you really need to keep trying.

I had to eventually do the new treatment of Swift which is extremely painful, expensive but does actually work. Have you tried the banana skin or duct tape methods yet as they work very well for some people.

Twotimesrhymes · 13/07/2024 09:52

i would pay for a podiatrist at this stage op, we did for our ds as they had got so bad and it took three sessions.was worth it..

Funderthighs · 13/07/2024 09:55

Duct tape worked for my daughter. It took a while but was effective.

OldTinHat · 13/07/2024 09:56

I had crazy verrucas and warts from my feet, on my knee and on my fingers. For years! I tried everything.

Most bizarrely, I woke up one morning and every single one had vanished.

Moonshiners · 13/07/2024 09:56

I had the mother of all verrucas for about 14 years. Tried absolutely everything. Then some wonderful person on here told me to paint it repeatedly with nail varnish. It absolutely worked and killed it after a few weeks

Ohthepressureofaname · 13/07/2024 09:57

I had mine needled by a podiatrist. They were also long standing (c 12 yrs). It wasn’t cheap but it worked amazingly well. Not sure if they’ll do this procedure on children and it was painful but it was absolutely worth it for me.

3luckystars · 13/07/2024 09:57

Yes of course, pay and get them
off.

thebluebeyond · 13/07/2024 09:58

I would just leave them. I had millions of the little horror for years. One day I just became immune and they all disappeared and never came back, And I am still immune now. 30 years later. Treatment hurt and never helped

Needanewname42 · 13/07/2024 10:02

17 or 18 year old verruca went after being Dry needled by a podiatrist. Wasn't cheap but cheaper than keeping buying 'stuff'

Sherunswithwolves · 13/07/2024 10:03

Try a footbath (perhaps a few times) with tea tree and lemon essential oils.

Geronimum · 13/07/2024 10:11

What treatment did you try?

My dc had a couple and I had to be consistent applying bazuka extreme every single night. It took weeks but they eventually dropped out.

If you've really given the treatment a 100% shot I would take her to a podiatrist and pay to get rid.

Geneticsbunny · 13/07/2024 10:19

Coils she be vitamin d deficient? It stops your immune system from working as well as it should.

Geneticsbunny · 13/07/2024 10:20

Low iron levels have a similar effect.

Whereisthesun99 · 13/07/2024 10:35

We used Apple cider vinegar on my sons that refused to go, he sat doing his homework with his foot in a plastic tub full of the vinegar or 30 minutes (my husband scraped the tops of them of first), we then applied the vinegar to cotton pads on to the verrucas and taped in place over night . After around 6-8 weeks all gone . Replace the vinegar each time.

Hi. Look up thuja tablets. Homeopathic and they really work. Will take a few weeks but they will go.i also dabbed tea tree oil directly on to the veruccas.

hazelnutlatte · 13/07/2024 10:59

I had veruccas which lasted nearly 15 years. Tried every home method, saw 2 different podiatrists one who did nothing much, the other did acid treatments (verutop) which didn't work. Thought they would be there forever. Eventually I went to an aesthetics clinic and had plasma pen treatments, I had 4 treatments over 4 months and they have finally gone!

Flossflower · 13/07/2024 11:01

I am fairly sure that the doctor will just direct you to a chemist or podiatrist.

This will have no effect what so ever

I beg to differ.

KnittedCardi · 13/07/2024 12:14

Nail varnish. Got rid of a cluster of mine, which were just ever expanding over the years. Took about a month of reapplying every night. Not painful, not traumatic and an easy thing to do.

This happened to me except it was one large verruca on my foot, had it years and years and then one day I was like ‘oh yeah I forgot about this verruca’ lifted my foot to look at it and little did I know I’d forgotten about it because it had just up and completely vanished.

Lots of ideas! Thanks all
