I think there is something wrong with me. Has anyone else experienced this? Stomach issues

Every time I eat, I feel pressured in my chest on my left hand side. Around my rib area.

I know I have a problem with everything and people a D my schedule and more often than not meals are rushed. I think this would have something to do with it. Possibly.

Then the other day I started to experience burps tasting of food that I ate two days before that.

I get a lot ingestion and reflux issues too.

I'm afraid of going to my doctor because I know they will only send me for a scope going into the mouth. I had a scope the other way before and that was easy but I am afraid of gagging.

Has anyone experienced this?

Could you possibly have a hiatal hernia?

Do you have any pain on and off in your chest area? Have you missed any meals during the day? In the past I had to rush my lunch or eat at different times because of work. Doctor prescribe me some medicine. Can't remember the name. Told him I had pain and indigestion on and off. Had uncomfortable feeling in my mouth. Maybe go to the GP, just for reassurance or see another GP for a second opinion.

I have no idea what this is. I am still experiencing this feeling. It's happening every day now. It's happening when I eat mainly. I feel pressure in my chest. It's so uncomfortable. Even taking drinks.

It sounds like a hiatus hernia, I have one.

I take omeprazole which keeps it managed for the most part.

Do you take that tablet before or after eating?

It could be a whole bunch of things, you need to go to the GP.

With the gastroscopy (which they'll only refer you for if you meet certain criteria), just take whatever sedation you are offered. In the meantime they are likely to palpate your abdomen & run a bunch of blood tests making a decision based off of those as to what to do next.

However, your description fits with my experience of gastritis but also another pp's of hiatus hernia. Could also fit with IBD or IBS & other stuff too. GP & get the investigations started 😊

To me it sounds like an oesophageal motility disorder like achalasia. With those conditions food sometimes stays in the oesophagus (due to absent/reduced peristalsis and/or sphincter between oesophagus and stomach not opening to allow food through). That could explain why your burps are reminiscent of food you ate some days ago.

These are rare conditions and can be difficult to diagnose, but getting them onto the GP's radar is a good first step. If you have this problem it might/might not show up on endoscopy. The gold standard test is manometry, and barium swallow is also helpful.

I've recently been diagnosed with this and so I'm on the lookout for it. You may not have it, but I'd want to bring it up with my GP if I were you 👍
