Does weight watchers work?

I need to lose about a stone. I’ve done IF on and off for the last year or two but my weight has slowly increased - about 10lb in 2 years. I’m thinking age has something to do with it (46). I can’t exercise at the moment as I’ve hurt my hip. Feeling really bloated and ‘big’
Any tips?

I'm doing the new you plan currently and it's been great it's a vlcd. Food replacement

Thanks! I’ll check it out. I feel like I need a reset. Off on holiday tomorrow and trying on my shorts and realise something has to be done!

Losing a stone will be easy on that sort of diet and will be gone within a month then just calorie count or get a portion controlled plate afterwards to maintain

What are the food replacements? Is it shakes?

I don’t think it really works long term as I didn’t feel like it taught good eating habits as you’re always reaching for the low fat option to stay in your points but the low fat option isn’t necessarily the healthiest as can be full of additives etc. But it definitely does work to get the initial weight off, so for the amount you’d like to lose I think it’s worth doing as a reset. You just need to make sure you then keep good eating habits (unlike me!)

It’s so hard isn’t it @kayakerak
i know the things to do but I end up eating the wrong things.. I try to be healthy and eat nuts and seeds but actually I should probably avoid them.

i use a calorie counter but get swayed by evidence that LC diets don’t work: I don’t eat a lot of junk, just too much in general. And I love butter 😂

All sorts, its 4 packs a day and its shakes, bars, soups, porridge, puddings, crisps, snacks and meals like carbonara, bolognaise, curry, noodles ect their obviously not like eating the real version but their pretty good and for the amount you need to lose you wouldn't have to do it long. It would be more about maintaining afterwards which could be done with products and real food or just calorie counting. Theirs Facebook pages you can join when you put your 1st order in and one is for tfr and the other is for maintainance.

Go plant based. Each as much as you want of raw or cooked veg and fruit, pulses and legumes. No added sugar. Cut out dairy if you want to lose lots of weight.
Veg are fibre rich so you'll feel really full. Won't need to calorie count, can eat whatever you want as long as it doesn't have added sugars or saturated fats. Olive oil, nuts, seeds etc all fine.
If you can't see yourself doing it long term then just do it for a month and see how you feel.
Take a b12 supplement and make sure you are having tofu, beans or lentil etc every day to ensure you get protein.

Also, to answer the question in your title. Yes WW works in the short term as will any diet you commit to. But if you can't stick to it long term or don't adopt enough good habits then you may end up regaining.

Thanks @OttersAreMySpiritAnimal
ironically I did follow a plant based diet during lockdown but I scrapped it as my OH was buying too much of the “fake” meat, which I consider to be UPF. It is easer with kids to just eat what they are having but I’ve decided to prioritise myself now.
I think I need to cut back on some carbs, and increase veg, maybe this is the way forward.
