Post run stomach issues

I have been running regularly for 20 years, no change in frequency or intensity, but for the last 2 months after every run I have really suffered with stomach pain, cramps and bowel issues. Has anyone had this and know what it could be? I can't think of anything I'm doing differently.

I will start with stomach cramps and burning bowels as soon as I stop, I'll then typically have a BM with lots of cramping (no diarrhea though), then cramping through the night (like now, stopping me from getting to sleep).

All fine by morning. Any advice?

Suffering from this now, have you found treatment or what's causing it please? It's horrid.

I stopped running long distances because I constantly had gastro issues. I did find immodium worked really well when I did want to do a long run. (plus no fibre for two days before).

Any idea what's causing it? I was fine until I did a 11k and then it set something off. I was only running 15 minutes when it started tonight and my stomachs in agony. So frustrating. I don't get diarrhea just cramps 😫 glad you have found a solution.

No solution unfortunately, I still get it. For me it's linked to intensity rather than distance. If I do a long slow jog I'm fine but if I get really out of breath it gets really bad.

I can't figure it out. It's almost like blood/oxygen is diverted away from my bowels while I run to power my run and then as soon as I stop it gets totally out of control. No diarrhea for me either, just cramping.

Ah at least you don't get the runners runs. I was training in deep countryside and lost track of the hedges I had to find my way into at VERY short notice. I used to then drive back to the spot later and clear up. It was awful. 😣

Might be worth getting it checked out by a doctor. It may just be a getting older thing (sorry) and the body becoming less efficient but new ongoing, unexplained stomach pain shouldn't be ignored.
