Molar extraction

I had a top back left molar removed last Friday, I'm trying to be super careful with it to avoid dry socket as i can't take anymore teeth pain.
I love food, but I'm being totally paranoid about anything I eat.
When did you feel you could eat normally and if you've had a molar out have you managed to live with it?

I can't have implants or bridge due to bone loss and gum disease.

I have my back two top right molars removed both in last 3 years so quite a gap. First one I had dry socket but it started quite quickly, perhaps 1-2 days, after extraction. The second time was ok.

Honestly now I rarely notice when eating, I guess I must subconsciously adjust my chewing to deal with it.

When they were extracted it was only a few days before I could eat properly, but I remember sometimes feeling little bits of rice getting stuck in the hole, they were easily removed with my tongue or rinsing mouth out with water.

Thanks @BrokenWing it's really good to hear that :-)

I'm trying to embrace my new gap but I'm feeling abit squeamish about it and the hole. I'm being overly dramatic about it I know... I had two wisdom out when I was a teenager and by day two was chomping on hobnobs.

I had a molar removed last month. And it clotted up straight away! It was very gross for about a week and hurt consistently for about 10 days! After 2 full weeks I noticed it was healing amazingly fast and was able to eat on that side again.

The online advice says pain will disappear in days but I think that’s a bit vague and silly.

Salt water rinses were very helpful as well. I didn’t even bother with crunchy food until 10 days later.

(I wouldn’t risk anymore pain as I had constant tooth ache since March!!)

I found my molar removal more traumatic and painful than a wisdom tooth removal.

Probably because of food and drink! And you have to brush around the gap very carefully until it’s healed. It gave my such face ache. The relief now it’s over is so lovely!

Hi OP I was wondering how you are doing now. I have a molar extraction in a few days

Yes, it went fine!! And has healed up well! It took some time getting used to it but now I don't really notice it that much and can eat fine. I think it took about four weeks to heal up. Just be careful what you eat and follow their insx. I did a lot of salt rinses.

Good luck!!!
