To cut a long story short, I have had both my lower back molars crowned. One of them is great, and feels like a normal tooth. The other however hasn't felt quite right for months. I was very lucky to have the tooth saved, it is root canalled and basically half a tooth. The dentist had to expose some bone to help make it possible for a crown to be placed, as there was little base left.

I have been back and had the crown adjusted 3 times now. It feels a lot better, i'm eating okay. I'm still more inclined though to chew on the other side (maybe psychological, but it has been long enough now for this to stop). I feel there is a slight high point, or groove missing. I wonder if maybe this has to do with a difference in alignment on each side. I do have fillings, and a lot of work done.
At my last appointment, the dentist seemed a little reluctant to readjust the crown, he checked it with the paper, and shaved it a tiny bit, seemed alittle irritated, then said "it should be okay now." Previously, he has always told me to come back if I felt it wasn't quite right.

I feel like he won't want to touch it again. Is it possible my bite looks okay on this side, and it isn't showing anything on the paper? Maybe this is due to being a full bite issue because the crown on the other side could be slightly lower? I have no idea if this is even a thing.

I'm starting to feel embarrassed, and like the dentist thinks I'm making it up! He is a really good private dentist, and I've had a lot of treatment from him, which has all been fantastic; he also has great reviews from other patients. I also appreciate that he saved the tooth in the first place, when other dentistrs would have pulled it.

Is this the result I can expect if I wish to keep a tooth? DH thinks I need to mention it again, but I'm scared he will tell me it's this or no tooth!

Any experience or advice would be appreciated!

I have had so much bother with my teeth, spent a fortune, and this is a tiny niggle but it is bothering me. The crown looks great, alittle flatter than the other side, but it appears like a normal tooth, it is fitted well.

Do I get the dentist to check my full bite?

Sorry, it was supposed to be a short story!

I think l would go back and get your full bite checked again. You need to feel comfortable and if it doesn't feel right it doesn't feel right.
You shouldn't have to put up with it bothering you if the problem can be resolved. If it looks a little flatter than the opposite tooth perhaps that could be the reason for it to feel slightly misaligned.

Thank you @Seaoftroubles yes, I'm thinking that when he is checking it, maybe it is aligning okay, so he thinks there isn't a high point. I wonder if it is just slightly higher than the other side knocking my bite off. I feel like he thinks I'm making it up at this point! I wish they would check it from different angles, and not just on your back, because your jaw moves, everytime he checks it my teeth are perfectly alleged at the time! Then I get home, and I can feel it bothering me again.
I swear I have had so much done, I am forgetting how to close my mouth naturally!

@NOTthisOldchestnut l do understand, l often feel like l need a season ticket for my dentist as l'm there with monotonous regularity! l have gum disease so need to see my perio every few months for 'maintenence' and the hygienist in between. Anything to hang on to my teeth as long as l can though!
Definitely go back and explain how you feel, if he's a good dentist he will want you you to feel comfortable and be happy with the outcome. Do hope you get it sorted, good luck!
