Could this be pneumonia?

I have been under the weather for around a month now,.coupled with a dry cough. I finally went to the GP last week, she said I had reduced air intake in my lower left lung, so she gave me antibiotics (8 x erythromicin a day) and sent me for an xray. The results are

XR Chest :
Mild nodularity in the left lower zone could represent infection.
Lungs and pleural spaces are clear.
Heart and mediastinal contours are normal.
A repeat film is recommended after an appropriate course of antibiotic
treatment for presumed infective change in 6 to 8 weeks time.

I have had many chest infections over the years, including bronchitis and have never had this stronger dose of antibiotics nor have I been sent for xray. I know noone knows for sure but is this normal or does it sound like a more serious infection?

Thanks

That's the text I received above. I've tried calling but I can't get a call back at the moment

I used to see these results quite a lot as a GP. course of antibiotics and x-ray 6-8 weeks later and most x-ray had resolved confirming it was a chest infection.

Most chest infections are either bronchitis or Pneumonia

So you basically have a 50/50 chance
But you are on the correct medication now
Have you got concerns about pneumonia for a particular reason?
