Painful underboob

I have a sore on the underside of my boob and it is so itchy and painful, I'm trying to get as much air to it as possible but it's proving difficult when running round after two children all day and nothing I am putting on it seems to be cutting it just wondering if anyone has had the same and was able to get rid?

It could be fungal - have you got any canesten or similar knocking around that you could try? I end up using canesten and talc alternately!

The yellow nappy rash cream, metanium I think it’s called. Works wonders for this.

Thanks @Lallie87 and @FawnFrenchieMum I don't have any canesten at the moment but I'll give the metanium a go

Athletes foot powder should also work.

Swissrollover · 29/06/2024 21:21

Yes, canesten (clotrimazole) or miconazole, essentially something antifungal. Try to keep it clean and dry in the meantime.

If you get a sweaty underboob, change into a clean dry bra or use something to line your bra and absorb the moisture.

Do you have any nizoral shampoo, on the off chance? This would help too if you leave on for a few minutes before rinsing.

I find the breastfeeding nipple cream (lansinol or something? In purple tube) good for such things. Blister plasters can also help.

Looks fungal to me. Quite common when it's been hot

sprigatito · 29/06/2024 21:34

Does it smell unholy and is it wet? If so, you need athletes foot powder. Keeps it dry and kills the nasties.

Anothernamechane · 29/06/2024 21:35

I get that sometimes too. It’s a curse of the large of nork - particularly in summer. I use fungal foot treatment on it and it tends to work

Thanks so much for the replies!
I've never had it before but since stopping breastfeeding everything seems to have drooped shall we say and it isn't much fun in this warmer weather.
It doesn't smell but it is weepy. I'll definitely pop to the shop first thing for some of your recommendations. Metanium seems to be giving it some relief for the time being.
