Tingling/numbness in toe. Should I be worried?

So I googled it being the idiot that I am and of course MS came up as one cause 🫤 this started about 3 days ago, a mild pins and needles sensation in 4th toe on right leg. Has anyone experienced similar. I will be waiting a couple of weeks before making a Dr's appointment as we go on hols in 2 days. I know these things often resolve themselves and I'm hoping this is the case 🤞
Anyone experienced similar? No history of recent injury.

I used to get this if I wore heels, it was temporary nerve damage.

I used to get a numb toe temporarily when I wore a particular pair of shoes to a job that involved being on my feet a lot. This was 20+ years ago and no issues, it was just the shoe/job combination.

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't worn heels for about a week before this started so I'm not sure that's the cause. I have been mainly wearing flip flops with the nice weather.
How long did it take yours to calm down? It's not painful, just mildly irritating but I'm just worried it's potentially a symptom of something worse...

I've got that in my pinky finger on my left hand - pinched nerve in the back of my elbow apparently from resting my elbows on the table while typing, the physio gave me exercises to do and it's amazing, I can switch the tingling on or off while doing the exercises.

It's amazing how far away the feelings can be referred as well, have you hurt your back or pinched a disc, or have sciatica? That can make something as far away as your toes hurt or tingle.

How's your back?

hobbledyhoy · 25/06/2024 17:46

Could be b12 deficiency, I take tablets to make sure.

Also sometimes alcohol can have that effect temporarily. I'm not by any means suggesting you drink a lot! Only that I found a correlation between when I had perhaps a few drinks regularly, I noticed it more but that may be because alcohol can deplete b12.

Omg! Good point! Thank you for posting.

I had B12 deficiency in the past so am getting bloods done tomorrow (unrelated to this issue) I'll ask can they check B12 too. Thanks for replying. I dont really drink so probably not that.

How's your back?

It's OK I did have a touch of sciatica, nothing major but it may be connected. I have torn ligaments in my knee but that's the other leg but all connected I suppose

How are you now? Did you ever find out what was causing it?

hippysunshine · 10/10/2024 18:04

I have a numb big toe on my left foot and occassionally an itch (the type under the skin you can’t get at) down the center of the arch of the same foot.

I have had bloods, and nerve tests done, and everything is clear. They did say it’s probably connected to the bad back I sometimes get.
So, no answer here apart from possible nerve damage somewhere that is causing it.

How did your blood tests come back? And have the doctors mentioned sending you for nerve conduction studies?

Wonder if it could be perimenopause related hormone fluctuations? My symptoms are driving me crazy. I bursted into tears at GP the other day and asked for MRI.

It just went! Probably come back now that I've said that! Lol

B12 could potentially cause this, though it's strange it's in one toe. Hope you get to the bottom of it!
