What is this odd thing on my arm? Eczema (never had it before!), something else?

I have this in two places on my arm. It’s sore! I haven’t had anything like it before.

What could it be?

A bite?

Underworld2 · 24/06/2024 21:44

Looks like ringworm

greengreyblue · 24/06/2024 21:47

Ringworm normally has a more defined edge but that could still develop. How long have you had it op?

Rashhhh · 24/06/2024 21:58

I noticed it about two days ago so very recent. I don’t think a bite because I’m always getting bitten and I know what they feel / look like on me - this feels like dry, bumpy skin and is sore.

Ringworm! Now that sounds scary!

Would a pharmacist know? Doesn’t feel like a doctor thing?

I've never suffered from eczema except for a brief period when I had a bit that looked something like that - I was a chemistry student and assume there was something in the lab I reacted to.

So I guess it's possible it's something like that.

Pharmacist sounds like a good first port of call.

Does it match up with this OP? https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/discoid-eczema/

Not sure about ringworm, ime it's usually more of a ring with a centre. (it's not really a worm, it's a fungal infection)

nhs.uk

Discoid eczema

Read about discoid eczema (nummular or discoid dermatitis), a long-term (chronic) skin condition that causes the skin to become itchy, reddened, dry and cracked

It could be that? It isn’t totally dissimilar!

If it’s ringworm it will respond to Canesten pretty quickly.
