Mid cycle bleeding

I’m a bit concerned. This month I started to bleed 10 days after my period. I’ve never had this before. It lasted 4 days and was quite heavy, felt like a proper period with cramps etc. It slowed down and stopped and then one day later I’ve started to bleed again (cramps and all).

Like I said this has never happened, periods regular. Had a very recent smear, no HPV. Had Abdominal gynae scan a year ago. All Normal.

I’m 47 so definitely pero age, but this is freaking me out. Saw the GP last week when the bleeding started and she said to wait and see what happens in the next month.

I just went to see my obgyn cause the same thing happen to me in February and again this month so I had an appointment yesterday and they gave me an ultrasound and come to find out I have fibroids on my Uterus that was causing this and im too 47 so I go back next Thrusday and see which Procedure they gone do because I have lupus so they wanna find what's best for me they leaning towards a partial hysterectomy

Thank you for replying. I don’t think it’s fibroids because the scan I had last year didn’t flag anything up.

Good luck with your treatment!

Just bumping in case anyone has experienced this. I’m still experiencing cramping but the bleeding has stopped again.
Pretty worried but hoping the scan last year and recent clear smear means it isn’t anything too sinister. Hard not to worry though.

I've had both fibroids and cysts repeatedly, mid-cycle bleeding most months. They've never shown up on abdominal ultrasounds, only transvaginal. Smears always clear and no underlying cause/ problem has ever been found. I appear to be a healthy person who just always gets fibroids and cysts. It's annoying to go through it over and over again, particularly when they get so big that they have to be removed under general anaesthetic, and bleeding 18 - 20 days a month is no one's idea of fun, but at least there's nothing seriously wrong with me.

I would advise pushing for further investigations if it happens repeatedly. As a one-off I don't think they'd do much, especially given your age and the liklihood of perimenopause.
