I'm a twitching mess

Me again. I'm back. This time my username matches my problem.

I'll begin by explaining that I've got hurrendous health anxiety. Always have, Always will. So please be kind. Please.

Here gos...

I've got terrible twitches all over my body. Began over a week ago with burning in my ankle. Then my feet went to pins and needles and feeling genuinely weird. Then the bad twitches began, all over my body. It's awful when my neck twitches as it shakes my head. My knees burn too on and off but I have been squatting lots. However my body is used to lots of excercise, you should see me. I'm a machine.

I'm terrified to go to the doctors as I can't put myself through more tests and results. I'm not ready to do all that again.

What I will say is this. I exercise a lot. Daily, evening runs around 7k to 8k. Then when ive finfihes my run ill do about 10 mins of extra cardio. Plus an exercise class in the morning, every morning. Since the weather has got warmed I've noticed I've been sweating more, which I didn't do in the winter.

I'm also not a bit drinker of fluid. Maybe 2 cups of tea a day, 2 glasses of milk, a couple of small glasses of cordial.

Please talk to me about these twitches. You all know what I'm thinking. MS, MBD, brain tumours.

I can hear my muscle in my ear spasm now as I type and I've got a rhythm of twitches all around my body right now, like a symphony.

I've written this quite calmly, but that's taken disabling to calm myself the.fuck.down. as I'm feeling really quite worried about a trip to the doctors who might want to do blood tests, refere me on for tests.

I'll add I had bloods done in January fir something else. All came back normal apart from iron and blood count one. I've not been taking any supplements for iron as I don't feel tired.

I don't know heaps about this, but surely if you're sweating lots and not replacing fluids/electrolytes, your muscles are going to have a hard time doing all their electrical functions properly, which could lead to their twitching? Like the signal is sketchy as there isn't enough conductive material to pass through properly. (Obviously happy to be corrected by someone who knows actual science, though!)

Obviously, it could be something else so do get checked out if you're still worried, but I would start with the basic stuff like drinking water/rehydration sachets.

Been to see GP who wasn't really willing to say what she thinks it is.

She's booked me in for bloods for 9th July. Next available appointment.

I'll also mention this began whilst I was taking an exam for a course I'm studying. I failed it and was so upset. I've got a re-sit this evening. So it could be anxiety related.

Stress never helps anything but beware of labelling physical symptoms as anxiety, as they like doing this with women's health because it's much easier than actually identifying the problem.

If it makes you feel any better OP, I have body twitches all over and my MRI scan was clear. NMD/ALS is very very uncommon and normally starts with weakness before twitching.

I passed my exam yesterday!!!

The twitches are still here, perhaps less strong but now and again a twitch or a glitch.

I've increased my fluid consumption, I'm on the prescribed iron tablets. I'm taking vitamins, I'm going to improve my diet.

I'm wondering if this is the back end if a virus. Weeks ago my DH came to me saying he thinks he has white finger(he uses power tools for a job) and he couldn't explain the funny feelings he was getting in his hands and legs. He's the opposite of health anxiety so I took his concerns seriously. He won't visit a Dr though as he says he has no time and he can't describe the sensations he's feeling anyway, plus they are slightly less often.

So its strange we have both had neuromuscular sensations over the last month now. Could be a coincidence.

I just need to talk.

The twitches are still there but kind of lightly turned down in force, i.e not always as powerful. But I'm still twitching all over.

I'm trying to drink more, taking vitamins and eating bananas. Not been exercising which I'm really missing.

My knees keep burning though and my ankles/feet can burn. Then all of a sudden they stop. I'm really scared something is wrong with me.

I don't know if I'm drinking enough though. It's difficult. I'm probabky drinking about 5/6 big glasses of fluid a day now. Compared to the two I used to drink. Less cups of tea and milk incase that's stopping me absorbing anything. I probably need to keep drinking more...

The soles if my feet feel very peculiar too right now, numb, tingly. But when I move and walk around it dissappears.
