Hi, just wondering if anyone has been through anything similar .
Had tooth pain a year ago, got it pulled . But kept going back to the dentist as the teeth on either side aches a little. I also have an impacted wisdom tooth on that side but dentist didn't seem to think that was an issue. She said maybe teeth on either side maybe just sensitive without the tooth in between ! It's been on/ off dull ache most days , I usually can't pinpoint to one tooth but most of the time it's the back molar in front of the impacted wisdom tooth. Going to try and book in for this week again. I feel like it's never going to be sorted an ill have this dull ache forever . I do find I clench on that side a lot during the day but would that cause a dull tooth ache . Any ideas appreciated?

I had something similar. Tooth extracted due to awful ongoing toothache. Then the tooth next to the extraction then started to hurt. Initially a dull ache, and then got worse and worse.
I changed dentist and ended up having a root canal on it. Think the scans didn't show anything conclusive but dentist agreed to do root canal and it fixed the issue
He said it was even possible that the wrong tooth was extracted in the first place as the pain may have been misplaced...

Thanks for your reply @redcess . Ya I really thought by getting it extracted I would be sorted but it's going on since then . Started with a dull ache but really noticing it now ! How long was it before your dentist figured out that it was the one next to it! I seem to be going on ages and she can't see anything !

Toothache is just the worst, I really feel for you!
It took changing to a new dentist, best thing I ever did. He was much more knowledgeable and prepared to try out different things. I didn't realise how bad the original dentist was until I moved.
It probably took about 6 months from the original extraction to the root canal on the other tooth.
One thing I did when I changed dentists was that I went on the denplan insurance plan (only saying this as it is anonymous!). Because nothing could be seen on the scan, I passed the screening for the insurance. Costs £35 per month and all root canals and fillings included. Once I was on that the dentist could then take his time and try a few different things to get the best result without me worrying about the cost. It's worth considering if you have ongoing dental problems. Good luck

Have you had an x-ray? It could be inner decay on the surrounding teeth. An X-ray would show this. I would ask for one.
Toothache is the worst and what starts as a dull ache can turn into unbearable pain quite quickly. I'd get it sorted while it's still manageable.

I had X-rays after the tooth was extracted, to see if it was another tooth but nothing showed up! Might just ask for more X-rays this week to recheck! Maybe it's the impacted wisdom tooth playing up but she thought that looked okay too. I suffer from severe health anxiety so I'm thinking the worst !
