You should go to the doctor. There are different types of alopecia.

~It might be stress related.

yes see the dr, though i had a weird 10p size patch when i was about 26 it went after a while.

Hiya,

My sister has this, she is 18. Hers is stress related.

Definatly go to see your GP

pandagirl03 · 08/04/2008 11:33

wow quick responce, thank you all. This patch is right at the front of my head near my fringe. I really do not want to look to see if i have any more patches. This patch is quite big, many size of 10p coin, and my hair feels very thin around the front of my head. Im so upset.

have a read of this- and see your GP
it may be useful if there is any doubt re diagnosis to be referred to dermatologist.

friendlyedjit · 08/04/2008 11:41

it is usually a mild self limiting condition which clears up and although isn't caused by stress- everything always seems to be made worse by it .

pandagirl03 · 08/04/2008 11:48

oh no, wish i didn't read that now, it says hair re-grows in about 2 months but can take up to a year. So no chance of my hair growing back in time for the wedding

just thought i wonder if this is why i have alot of grey/white hair, it has re-grown this colour but i have not noticd before

Grey/white hair can be caused by vitiligo. In some cases of alopecia it appears that grey hair is not affected, suggesting that it is the pigmentation in the hair follicles that this auto-immune illness (i.e. alopecia) is attacking.

Colour of regrown hair can be different from before, though it tends to settle down eventually.
