Hi

Does anyone have experience of 'Glue Ear' as an adult? I also have a rumbling/sea wave sounds in my ears that I notice more when laying down?

Is you ear sometimes squelchy/wet?

GP has checked my ears and says they are OK and can only suggest going for a hearing test?

Thanks

Hiya, pop up in my General Health post. I had Tinnitus, buzzing and noise in one ear, it went away and came back. And now is gone. I think it is the hormone changes and stress. When you are lying down, noise is more obvious, because it is quiet. listen to some soothing music. Ask your GP to refer you to ENT. I went to see one. They check both my ears and nothing was wrong. He want me to go for a scan and later I cancelled my appointment. It is part of my Perimenopause symptoms.

Hope everything is ok. Chat soon.

How long did you have it for?
Did you get some pain with it at times?

I'm likely to be perimenopausal but so many symptoms can be something else.

I've suffered with this for years - seen different GP's over the years but only used to experience it over Winter time but now more or less continuous. GP wouldn't refer me to ENT as no hearing issue. In the past GP's told me to use a neti-pot for a sinus rinse but doesn't help nowadays.

Thanks again

Hi, I had it early this year when my body was feeling rundown. It was on and off. Took a month to see my GP, and I told her about my ear and other health problems too. My hearing is fine. She quickly sent a note to see a specialist at my local hospital. Received a letter 2 weeks later for an appointment. A woman test my hearing first, listen to some beeping noises, then refer me to the Audiologist later. Have you tried another GP? I'm a bit wary putting anything inside my body, food is ok. Missing my junk food. How old are you? Perimenopause and menopause increase body sensitive, all sort of probs with our bodies! Beginning of the year I was dying to go to the loo all the time, can't hold it. Now is my gut problems and joints.

Yes seen a couple of GP's as my surgery is one where you get to see any GP (they decide).

I'm mid-40's so must be peri. Loads of shoulder issues. Generally feel ick all over. Gaining weight around the middle.

I have a host of other symptoms too so keep thinking it must be peri but my periods haven't really changed much.

I hope this isn't how it will continue.

All my GPs are pt now. Have you ever asked your local Pharmacist about your problem? Do you still hear the noise every day?
I have read and spoke to women about menopause. We have all sorts of problems with our bodies. I have heavy periods for a few years now. One friend breezed through it, no symptoms at all. Lucky her.

@Harmonyrose I hear the noise mainly when I'm trying to sleep. Not asked a Pharmacist. It's not an offensive noise, just worrying really! I wondered if it was an allergy but GP thinks not. My most recent blood tests showed high levels of C-Reactive Protein (CRP) meaning there is inflammation somewhere. I do think I feel worse in the second half of my cycle though. Just worried about it all really!

When I had Tinnitus it was irritable at nights and I couldn't sleep properly. Maybe it take time to wear off.
Two weeks ago, I had blood shot eyes and some allergy. Went to my friendly pharmacist and he gave me some tablets straight away. If I go to my GP, it would have been 1 month wait.
