Hi all,
I’m desperately after some reassurance. I’m currently 7/8 weeks pregnant with my second and my sickness this time has been off the charts.
it doesn’t matter if I don’t eat or force myself to eat to outcome is the same. I’ve been trying to keep close to 2000 calories, but this is impossible when I’m having to force myself to eat toast and bananas.
I am just curious what other pregnant women suffering with sickness days of food look like? I’m worried I’m not getting enough calories, but all foods currently turn my stomach. I’m not being sick yet, just lots of dry heaving and feeling sick all day long!
help 😭

I was cereal. Lots and lots of cereal. Once I got over the nausea the foods I could eat were endless. But those first few weeks (then odd day here and there throughout) were horrendous

If you can stomach anything, whatever it is, eat it. Mostly so you don't start to feel weak and dizzy. On top of hunger that's a really shit spiral to go down

It made me feel better to know baby was still getting what he needed even when I wasn't able to have a full nutritious diet. Stopped me giving myself such a hard time for eating crap when I was able

Congratulations! I hope it gets easier for you xx

I had hyperemisis from weeks 7-18 in both pregnancies. Most days I couldn't eat. When I could it was largely Mini Cheddars and lemon ice lollies. Sometimes toast, but not buttery, but Marmite went down well.

I spent a lot of time in and out of hospital on a drip to rehydrate.

I had this throughout all 3 of my pregnancies, a long time ago now but will never forget feeling so grim with constant nausea, and sickness too.
I found the only time I didn't feel sick was when l was eating something and used to nibble throughout the day on dry crackers toast and ginger biscuits. Some people swer by anti sickness writstbands, worth a try! Hopefully your nausea will pass soon, it usually improves around 3 months, l was just unlucky!

Thanks all. I think I’m eating enough, usually a couple of slices of toast through the day, yoghurt and museli (very small amount) sometimes half a sandwich, sometimes a bit of mashed potatoe, bananas, apples and avocado (when I can stomach them). I tend to be eating plain rice as my evening meal because come that time I can’t stomach or face anything. I’m just worried I’m not getting enough, I think it’s an adjustment when your use to having quite a health appetite. X

Dry rice crispies. For weeks.

With my DS my morning sickness passes by 12/14 weeks, but I don’t remember it being this bad!
thanks for all your responses, and any other suggestions keep them coming. I am drinking plenty of water, which I’m pleased about. x

Did you manage to eat anything else or just dry rice crispies?

Very little else for a few weeks. I moved onto cake and microwave ready meals (no cooking smells) but most of it usually came back. I was around 16 weeks before I was eating anywhere near normally.
This was 22 years ago when there was little help. Even just 2 years later with my second Pg the Dr was willing to prescribe meds which really helped.
Do speak with your GP - they should be able to help.
