Dentist-phobics - a question...

(aside from whether it is dentist or dental phobics or phobes...)
Do you have or have you tried a battery powered toothbrush? If so, what do you make of them?

I have used many battery ones, but bought myself an electric Oral B one for Christmas (I know, but my teeth needed it) and I love it - it is completely worlds'apart! I swear my teeth are whiter and they feel much cleaner. Am still working on the plaque and should be brave enough for my next check up in June. Makes me feel so much more confident.

Okay...
The reason I asked (and it is an electric one btw - duh!) is that it freaked me when I put it in my mouh! I had no expectation that it would and it really surprised me. I got the heart-racing-panic thing, and hated the vibration feeling against my teeth. I did use it, but had to take breaks to recover myself. Not sure if I will use it again (although as you say, teeth do feel much nicer).
Am I the only bonkers one here then?

Hmm, BB, I know where you are coming from. It did cross my mind, the desensitisattion thing. It was just the strength of my reaction to me holding the toothbrush that shocked me .

I am a fruit loop at the dentist - I can't let them put anything in my mouh at all, let alone treat me. It takes long enough for me to sit in the chair. Luckily I have good teeth and they did very effective sedation when I had my wisdom teeth out - I didn't know a thing about it .

Tbh, I think it is a lost cause. I just don't have the guts to get treatment for my phobia. I shall just try to use my new shiny (scary) toothbrush so I don't have to deal with it...

Good on you for dealing with your issue though
