Unable to relax muscles in leg

Has anyone had this?

Been struggling with hip and knee pain for sometime. Know I need to loose weight. Swim and walk in pool semi regularly and and am in my feet at work for several hours a day plus lots of driving.

Left leg muscles now feel like they are constantly tight and really painful. Taken strong painkillers (codeine and naproxen) tonight after spending most of last night unable to sleep. 2hrs on and only slight improvement. Currently got my heated under blanket on under my legs but again it's not helping much and it's too warm to have on for long.

Any suggestions as to what else to do? Don't really want to go to GP about it (I know all I'll be told is to try and loose weight which I'm trying but on treatment for cancer which is making this particularly difficult)

You may very well be magnesium deficient, it's very common. Get some magnesium spray to put on your legs and start taking magnesium glycinate and see if it helps.

Thanks, I actually bought some magnesium tablets today, along with a good multivitamin and B12 supplement. Started them all tonight so probably won't have any effect just yet.

Are they Magnesium Glycinate? You want to be sure you're taking the right kind of magnesium. Magnesium Citrate, for example, can cause loose stools, among other issues.

Would suggest some stretching and seeing a physio for the correct exercises and technique
