Can I go back to work after…

… a tooth extraction at 7pm tonight? Will I be good to go back in at 7:30 the next morning? It says online to rest for 24 hours but this seems excessive.

I’ll obviously see how I feel but I’m a teacher and I just want to think ahead a little.

thanks!

Take some paracetamol afterwards and you should be fine to go in the next day.

I had mine done in my lunch break! Guess it depends on which tooth and what sedation. Mine was second premolar.

Eta yes I assume you'll be ok to work tomorrow.

Depends. Sometimes you get swelling and bruising but painwise probably ok.

CarolineFields · 12/06/2024 11:43

depends - one of my colleagues came straight back, then worsened and was of for a week, and that was a year ago, and it still has not settled, she now has a long term infection in her jaw bone and has been off more recently

She would have been much better off taking time to recover fully in the first place

I never took time off sick for a dental extraction (not even wisdom teeth) and usually went to work straight afters (not a teacher though I admit). If all goes smooth, you will be fine the next morning and the anesthetic will have worn off too - i.e. no droopy face where you struggle to talk and eat/drink .

Great thank you, I thought so!
